Best exhaust setup for my future build
Since everyone has different goals and engine setups what works for them may not be good for me? lol
But, seriously. I will be picking up a 350 from Blaine's Motor Supply here locally and I want to use the 350 TBI with it. I would like to know what set of headers would give the best bang for my buck if my full exhaust budget is around $500-600. I've already got a catalytic converter and I am planning on running side exhaust out the passenger side so I won't need a muffler. My power goal is somewhere in between 250-300hp at the crank.
Also, would it be a good idea to have a resonator since I won't be using a muffler?

350..TBI?wtf why.
Exhaust: hooker comp shorties, dougs y pipe, 3" cat back (dynomax) or equivalent, magnaflow/dynomax/universal high flow muffler. Single exit flows the best, dual exit has a bit more deflection but some like the look better. Either way its a nice setup.

Re: Best exhaust setup for my future build
Cheaper than TPI, easy to just use my existing fuel pump/lines and I prefer it over carb. TBI gives me enough torque to make me happy.
These headers (?): 2460HKR Hooker Headers
As for everything else I wouldn't be sure about those items simply because of how I'm going to do the exhaust.
I'll be taking both of my 4th gen Z28 exhaust tips and dumping them out here if at all possible:
I would like to be able to use a catalytic converter as well as a resonator since there won't be a muffler involved to reduce some of the noise. I won't be cutting my side skirt ground effects if I can help it. That's the main reason why I just wanted to know of the best headers for right now.

Re: Best exhaust setup for my future build
I got tired of the bullshit from both Ford and Chevy guys with the lack of respect towards me and no help\answers given that I said forget it.
Maybe one day when I gain more fab and engine swap experience I will attempt it on my own and not involve either community.
Any info or suggestions on the topic? I would rather not discuss that topic in here.

Some of the classic Pontiac forums I'm on, if you were to even consider putting a LSx instead of a Pontiac motor they'd treat you like you just told them you tounge punched their Mom in the fart box.
They get downright mean!!!

It's your car, I say do what you want. BUT be prepared to hear about it.
Between the fab; comp stuff and everything else, You've probably got your work cut out for you. If you can pull it off, I say go for it!!!
I'll sign up for that thread and get my popcorn ready!!!

not a lot of people do side exits. I looked at a 3rd gen with sidepipes and knew they would be the first thing to go if I bought it. They look good on C3's but not 3rd gens.
Anyway, any shorty header and Y pipe and then from there, a 2 /12 inch or 3 inch catback. If you must have side exits then just go to an exhasut shop and ask them what type of flange they need from a header to fab because unless you want to scrape the ground, you aren't going from a single cat over on the passenger side and then routing a pipe underneath the driveshaft so you can exit in front of the drivers rear wheel.
You need to spend some time underneath a 3rd gen and you'll quickly see. And sound is in the ear of the beholder and I think an open pipe on a street car sounds like doo doo.
youtube.com has lots of exhaust clips
oh, and back to your retort about the SBF into a 3rd gen it's not just doing the fab work etc etc. There is a reason why my project cars are SBC based and not SBF based. If given my druthers I'd rather have Mopar project cars but you can't beat the low price and availability of SBC or LSX parts. LTx is another story but I'm happy with that vehicle I have as well.
