1 7/8 shorty header?
Just wondering if anyone has made their own 1 7/8 shorty header?
I am a bit leary of the LT headers, and now that i have a single 4" exhaust, i would have to change that set-up so I would rather stay with a shorty.

*old 383 combo*11.00@125 - 1.55 60ft, 145hp n2o
If it was what is in your sig....
Then these would work fine:
They are 1 3/4" primaries and 2 1/2" collectors Y can be 3 1/2" outlet.

Yes, in my old combo I did use a 1 5/8 hedman shorty with a 3" collector with dual 3" exhaust dumps
In my present combo a 1 3/4 header would work. But next year I want to bore to 406 and run about 12-12.5 compression and a 250 to 300 shot of nitrous so I would like a bigger header.
Hey Dyno Don, have YOU ever made a 1 7/8 shorty header? Is there enough room? I am thinking i would need 3.5" collectors too

So at what hp level would a 1 3/4 shorty header start to be a restriction?
600hp?

Re: 1 7/8 shorty header?
Hi, new here... I would be interested on the feedback of this question also As I am currently kissing the 600 hp mark on motor and having to upgrade my headers... Only question I have is why would u go with shortys? I would think shortys would be a major hinderance in any high horse power application....

Our exhaust systems suck, no ground clearance. I want to keep with a shorty and 4" single exhaust.
Otherwise, if you go LT, you gotta make a custom y-pipe and scrape the ground.
406c.i.RS, what header do you have now?

Re: 1 7/8 shorty header?
I'm currently running the hedman long tubes pn#68460 .. they r cheap from summit and actually tuck up nice and tight!!! no ground clearance issues at all.. But they are only 1 5/8" and are choking my motor... I'm running a true dual setup with with my tail pipes actually coming out the rear.. UMI sells a panhard bar relocation bar that lets u run two pipes over the axle.... I launch really hard and when my front tires return to the track my headers never scrape.. When I say they tuck up nicely I mean they actually tuck up VERY hi!!
