Muffler closer to the headers?
if i put the muffler closer to the headers instead of all the way at the back of the car... will it make it louder? i really want to put it where the cat is and just take the cat out, because its hallow any way. Any feed back would be great.

Re: Muffler closer to the headers?
Yes it'll be louder but, apart from defeating the purpose of the muffler, you could just use louder mufflers. A lot less pipe work.

Re: Muffler closer to the headers?
There's always a louder muffler. You could get straight through glass packs which pretty much don't muffle much at all. Then when all the glass burns out it's essentially a pipe with a bulge in it. I had them on a '67 'bird with a '73 455 HO engine and it was very loud. It actually got annoying after the initial fun wore off. Have you thought about cut outs?

Re: Muffler closer to the headers?
The closer the muffler is to the engine, the QUIETER the exhaust will be.

The law limits how loud it can be. If you get stupid loud then cops may stop to look underneath and they wont be happy seein you dont have cats. Thats what happened with my buddy in his lowered S10.
