hey, so i just bought a 87 iroc-z and a few days later i noticed this anoying ratteling noise coming from the exhaust somewhere. The noise is the loudest when you stand right behind the car while its running. Its definatly not the catalayic converter maybe a broken exhaust hanger?? Any suggestions to what it might be and how to fix it would be much appreciated.

 

It sounds like you're due for a visual inspection. There are plenty of places the exhaust can contact the body if any of the hangers are damaged. The only way to find out is to jack the car up and look.

 

A few short months ago I started to notice this noise coming from underneath my car. It sounds like something with my exhaust has finally gotten unhooked and is ringing against the body or pipe somewhere. Jack her up, inspect for loose flanges, bolts, clamps or anything on your exhaust piping & fix it!
