Re: summit headers

I had a set of the summit shorty headers on my '91 rs, but i couldn't find a y-pipe to match it. after a while of running the open headers, i replaced them with a different set. don't buy them, save your money and buy something better.

Re: summit headers

I bought a set for my 305 when I did the carb swap thingy. They're o.k., not the best but decent. I bought them cause they were cheap. The fitment wasnt perfect and I had to elongate the bolt holes in the flanges cause they werent set right originally. No y-pipe for these at all....that is the main problem I had to have one made. For the price of the y-pipe and headers even if you are on a tight budget i would wait and get a set of headmans or something with the y-pipe already to save yourself from headaches in the end.

Re: summit headers

Summit and Jegs brand headers are nothing more than Flowtechs. Complete junk. I had a set on mine. I guess I can't really complain. At the time they were $90 bucks and they served their purpose.

This time around I decided to go with the Hedman Elite series (68478.) 3/8" thick flanges, 14 gauge tubing, and a thermal ceramic coating for $330. I got the Y pipe new from someone on the board for $70 shipped, so I'm in $400 for a high quality set of headers with a matching Y pipe.
