Thanks. For those who don't know, the whiny noise is the Pete Jackson "quiet" gear drive.

That is how I was thinking about doing duals in my car. Did you have to modify the frame rail in the front at all where they come around in the 3rd picture?

there is quite a lot of room in that spot though, and some y-pipe setups, SLP, dons, edelbrock i think, use 2 pipes there already. you should know that

the slp's on my car have the dual pipes at that point, they are only 2.25, but with a better design, there is more than enough room fot fit larger pipes there.

Dunno if it will work seeing how im going to have to run 3" duals. 383 with a 177 street blower.. Actualy blew out the exhaust manifold gasket between the header and the heads a few times. Just cant get the exhaust out fast enough..

Re: Building my own true duals

I have a few questions for you. Did you bend your own pipe? Also, what did you use to hang everything?

I used 2.5" mandrel bends I bought on ebay. I cut off the factory hangers and welded them on the new exhaust. The hanger by the the tranny I custom made.

About how much do you think everything cost, without the mufflers? I have a new Hobart and I'd like to build my own exhaust system, but only if it's cost effective against a prefabbed single pipe cat back system. Flowmaster sells a cat back for $289.

I built the entire system including mufflers for less than $300. The subframe connectors are Chris Alston bolt-ins.
