new headers and y pipe - Dyno Don's
just got around to installing the new set of Dyno Don's headers, with new gaskets, arp header bolts, a magnaflow cat, etc. worked out good, a few kinks, removed the A.I.R. system cuz it was ghey, and cleaned up a lot of wires .. was a good project.. replaced my edelbrock TES headers which were leaking like crazy too
my younger cousin james helped me, hes in 2 photos, he was a big help, we got the job done!
first are the old cruddy headers, then the installation of the new ones, along with the air system removal, then some photos of the Dyno Don's headers and y pipe

Re: new headers and y pipe - Dyno Don's
How much did the Dyno Don headers cost you? I was thinking about getting some in the next couple of months. I'm going to need headers to put a dipstick on the 350 I just put in. Are the headers made for a y-pipe? I have a problem because my y-pipe hits the bottom of the oil pan on the 350 and can't connect to the manifold, so I'll need to run two straight pipes from the headers.

Re: new headers and y pipe - Dyno Don's
wel, dyno don will be better to help you but the setup i ordered from him was 2 headers, a y pipe, a connector pipe, and a bent pipe.... for around $700.00 and its way worth it, easy spark plug access and clean look

Did the O2 sensor wire reach the connection or did you have to increase the length?
Also, did the dip stick bolt in the original location on the head?

What kind of cat converter is that? Is it 3" in and out? It's tiny!
Nice job all around.

Re: new headers and y pipe - Dyno Don's
the o2 sensor wire was plenty long enough, i jsut zip tied it taunt to keep it from flopping around too
the cat is a 3" in and out magnaflow piece, on jegs.com for like $79, its a high flow cat, also designed to be compact for good ground clearance etc.. i needed a new one (8yrs on the old one) and since i removed the AIR system, i needed a cat without the AIR pipe coming from it
right now the dip stick is still an issue, im trying to figure out a way to make a bracket to keep it tight, .. havent configured it yet...

how do you get rid of the A.I.R system and do you have to reprogram the ecm for that

Re: new headers and y pipe - Dyno Don's
there are lots of pics of the car on my website ,,,,listed below
removing the a.i.r. system is easy, its all just tubes and bolts and a few hoses, tehr are 2 wires, u jsut unplug them from under the black plastic box by the air pump, wrap em up and hide em someplace, and pull off anythign that has to do with the air system... there should be no isses with the ecm or anything, i havent ran into any.. correct me if im wrong on this guys.. also i thinkt her is a big post on removing air system on this board... search for it, i will do likewise later

The plug access between the Edelbrocks vs Don's looks night and day different.

I believe they're ball and socket, needing no gasket.

nope, i P.M.'ed don the same question, and he told me there are no gaskets needed. I went out and bought some grade 8 stainless steel bolts and spread some never-seeze on them also, and tightened everything up.. then i went back a week later and re-tightened everything, i have had no leaks, and as far as i can tell, they flow great.
any other questions, feel free to ask!

Re: new headers and y pipe - Dyno Don's
that converter is a new style Magnaflow "Spun" converter. I recently got one for my car in conjunction with my dyno dons headers and y pipe.
I got mine for like $72 shipped off of ebay.
