Hooker2055 y-pipe touching oil pan and frame
Hi all, I have a 1989 IROC, with a built 383. Before I dropped the engine back in, I installed Energy Suspension motor mounts. The oil pan I am running is a Moroso pan (summit part MOR-20182). I installed my headers, got the engine in, and laid up the y pipe. Umm... ypipe is literally touching both the K member and the oil pan. Any ideas? I thought about welding in a 2.25" pipe for that section of the exhaust, and also considered replacing it with oval pipe from drgas.com. Any ideas? I am debating just bending it to fit and wrapping it in header wrap or something. What does everybody think? Should I be worried about oil heating up a lot... or no? Any input would be wonderful. Also... does anybody know where the stock oil pressure sending unit installs in the block? Ummm... that's all. THANK YOU!!!

Re: Hooker2055 y-pipe touching oil pan and frame
is that the 6qt pan? i have the same problem.
You will have to notch the k-member or flatten the tubing a little.
I flattened my tubing a little, but im going to be getting a tubular k-member at some point and them in making a new y-pipe
the oil sender installs in the top of the block to the driverside of the dizzy. Or you can install it on the side of the block right above the oil-filter
