which convertter with a hooker 2055 & 16823?

I need to pretty much replace my entire exhaust on an original '87 lg4 and want a direct fit as possible and 3" pipes. I am looking at hooker headers back to a magnaflow catalytic converter to a hooker cat back. Is this a good list for parts that fit and install together well or are there better fitting-installing header/converter/cat back parts?

MAGNAFLOW MFR#: 93441 DIRECT-FIT CATALYTIC CONVERTER $134.77 3" In/3 in. Male Ball Welded Flange Outlet, 20.625" long

16823HKR 86-92 Camaro/Firebird $319.99 3" Exhaust, 2-1/2" Tailpipes

2055-1HKR Street Force Emission Compatible Header $815.99 #1-5/8" Primary Tubes #3" Collector

You're fine on the headers and the cat-back exhaust, but check on the universal fit cat instead of the direct fit. It might be less expensive.

I doubt anything will bolt together in your driveway when you're changing everything like that.

The listed parts should all bolt together. Getting the old exhaust off will be the bulk of the work.

The only thing that will be an issue is the A.I.R. fitting on the driver's side will point to the rear on the headers, and the original fitting points forward.

The AC bracket leg also needs to be cut off per the installation instructions.

In my experience, universal cats are more expensive by the time you get them in than direct-fit cats.

Re: which convertter with a hooker 2055 & 16823?

Thats good news!

I'd like to get headers that run at a cooler temperature and also last a long time. How does the Hooker ceramic coating compare to a set of ceramic coated Hooker headers from Jet-Hot?

That's odd about the one A.I.R fitting being turned around. Maybe I can reroute a longer length of that plastic air management exhaust tubing around the back of the engine, past the disributor and then connect the A.I.R. valve that way..

hey sorry for bumping, but I searched and couldn't find comments comparing the two. Has anyone ever compared Hooker's ceramic coating with Jet-Hot's ceramic coating? Here's the description from hooker's ceramic 2055-1HKR

Re: which convertter with a hooker 2055 & 16823?

I'm going to go with Jet-Hot for coating the 2055s. Do you think it's overkill to have the Y-Pipe coated or a good idea?

Turns out the A.I.R. tubes on my stock set up have one tube facing in direction and the other side A.I.R. tube facing in the oppositite direct, so there won't be any rerouting hoses for my install.

I think it is absolutely a good idea to get the y-pipe coated. It's sitting right by the oil pan (heat) and exposed to all the road crud (corrosion).

Coated y-tube then (cooked oil doesn't sound too good!)

Is there anything else required to install this exhaust or is everything included when ordering the parts? First time exhaust install and ya, I want to install it at home.
