header gaskets...what type

Re: header gaskets...what type
Thanks,
I normally use the Felpro 1404, But they usually start to leak after a couple of
years or so. So, I was looking at maybe trying out some of the new header gasket technologies.

I run Percys "Dead Soft" Aluminum. Multi-layer type, never had a problem. Just do the re torque as they heat cycle a few times.

ehh, i havent had much luck with the fail-pros. i found some graphite gaskets at my local speed shop, theyre about a quarter inch thick, and are completely graphite except for a little flexible grid at the center. and those gaskets have been great for some time now, i havent even retorqued them in a loooong time

Re: header gaskets...what type
i've always used Fel Pro exhaust manifold gaskets on all of my headers, in the last 10 years, i have had 2 failures, both of them were due to my error.

Re: header gaskets...what type
i have had good luck with mr.gasket copper gaskets . i feel a lot of failures are due to poor prep. work . clean & de-burr header flange . clean cylinder head mateing surface . use quality bolts , chase & clean threads , tighten & torque from center outwards in small steps . good luck .
