Hey cat question, im gonna be getting my hooker 2055s on my camaro soon and was wondering if since i have a 3in cat back and no cat if ill need a cat since its gonna be 3 in striaght back. Would that effect my power better or less if i had like http://store.summitracing.com/partde...=1#Application

someone will come in here and tell you federal regulations require you to have a cat. screw federal law run it without the cat if you can get away with inspections. I dont like cats for 4 reasons, theyre expensive (but scrap money is nice!), theyre restrictive (except high flow cats when they are NEW), they make the exhaust sound/smell crappy, and they can get plugged up (running rich, race gas).

gut it, or just rid of it all together, the county i live in we dont have to have umm just exhaust and safty stuff blinkers, headlights.... most of the time dont even check horns.

Lingenfelter tested a 100% stock LT1 with and without cat. He found 4HP difference. About the same as a throttle body bypass mod.
Personally I prefer with a cat. I don't like the gassy smell when I'm behind the car or parking inside a garage. With my catback (GMMG), it sounds better with a cat. If your car is running semi decent, your cat will last you at least a decade. Even if you need to replace it, it's a pretty easy part to deal with.
