Magnaflow hi-flow cat ... did I mess up?

I am getting ready to install my Hooker 2055s and Hooker cat-back, and I bought a Magnaflow 3" in/out hi-flow converter to go between the two. Here's the converter: http://www.jegs.com/i/Magnaflow/642/94319/10002/-1

After I got it, I noticed it didn't have any flares or plates with bolt holes on the inlet/outlet pipes like the Catco 9118 does, and the in/outs seem kinda short compared to the 9118. [edit] Did some research and found out that this is a universal replacement, not a direct fit.[/edit]

Will this fit right onto my shorties and catback? Will it require welding, or is there another way to make it work?

I only bought it because I put in a HUGE order to Jeg's and they don't sell the Catco one, so I found the closest to it in Magnaflow.

Should I return the Magnaflow and get the Catco, or will this work fairly painlessly? I'm not opposed to taking it to a muffler shop, I just don't want it "rigged" in there.

It will not be "rigged" in there, take it to an exhaust shop, they should be able to weld it up for like 40 bucks, at least around here thats what they charge

Can I drive it to the exhaust shop with open headers & y-pipe?

Ha ha, that is YOUR call, if you tell the cop that you are on your way to the exhaust shop, it shouldn't matter, and if you just put it you probly wont even get messed with. But I dunno how cops are down there, I live up here in the middle of nothingness.

Unless they take the time to weld on the proper flanges, it will be "rigged" in there. You dont want the whole exhaust to be one piece welded together, however most shops like to do that for some reason.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I'm in rural Western NC, so most of our muffler shop guys are toothless, brainless & worthless. We don't have any "chain" muffler places here, and the best one in town looks like you could push the building over with one finger. I'm a little concerned about the "rigging". I think I'll just send it back, get the Catco direct fit, and install it myself. That way I know it's done right.

F--K it just go to a shop and tell them what you want, when theyre done inspect it and make sure its what you wanted, its not like people are gonna see the bottom of the car and im sure it wont be "rigged" in there. brainless toothless lol those are the best ppl to get the job done! i mean c'mon its not like your gonna put it on barret jackson or anything. just gir er done!
