Borla? Magnaflow? Hooker? Suggestions please!

Hey guys,Looking for a full cat back system for my 91 formula TPI (dual cat, correct me if i'm wrong). I had my heart set on a Borla, but the cost makes me think twice. Looking for increased performance (obviously) and a nice growl with volume that isn't annoying but gives the impression of alot of horsepower! It's going on a car that I will be keeping for a long time hopefully, so durability is an issue. Must have dual tips (like the borla). Needs to be a quick and painless install because I can't do it myself, have to pay someone to do it.The car has new cats in it I believe. What else would you recommend for my exhaust? I was putting off headers until I get a new engine...what about Y pipes or X pipes or whatever...lol I get lost with this stuff...thanks!Any gear for sale, please PM me.

This is my Borla catback. This is the exhaust I have always wanted and got a hell of a deal on it, got it used for $100 last year.

My Magnaflow sound clip is in my sig. I bought the muffler, went to a custom exhaust place and told them I just wanted turn down to look stock. They were trying to convince me to put tips on it.
If you are paying somebody to do it,and you want Magnaflow I say the best bet to do what I did and tell the pipe bender that you want tips. If you buy the catback for Lt1 f bodys, the hangers need to be relocated.
Anyways here is the Magnaflow sound clip.

If thats designed for a TPI then how different will it perform on the older LG4 carb vehicles. OH and will it come with an appology to all of us who bought the old system and did experience the DRONE effect, I took mine off after 5000 miles. Thats all I could stand. Thank god I found some one willing to buy mine for 95% of what I paid.

Not cheap, but the GMMG is a popular exhaust.

Re: Borla? Magnaflow? Hooker? Suggestions please!

Zepher, that sounds awesome! I love the look of the dual tips, maybe its my destiny to blow my money on Borla...pretty good install? Do they make it for dual cats?

On another note, hows that 305 w/ stealth ram? I heard that you needed at least a 350 to take advantage of that intake? I was interested in one of those when (if) I do an engine swap, how would it work on a stock 305?

Thanks guys,
Cam

Re: Borla? Magnaflow? Hooker? Suggestions please!

My borla is from a 4th gen, so we had to weld the intemediate pipe to the end of where the cat would be.
not sure if they make one for dual cats for our cars, but it shouldn't be too hard to connect the pipes if you are having a shop do it.

Also, the 4th gen Borla comes with the square intercooled tips while the kit for the 3rd gens come with round tips. I prefer the square tips.

The HSR actually works pretty decent on my car. I have a little more upper RPM power, not too much more than stock but I can feel it keep pulling to 5K.
I did notice a low rpm torque loss, but it's all good.

Re: Borla? Magnaflow? Hooker? Suggestions please!

Hey,

Thanks for the help...when I go to Borlas site and enter in all my car info, a cat back system comes up...not sure if they are assuming I have a single cat or not, cause I think only TPI got that exhaust set up or something, it wasn't right across the model line up at any rate.
