looks pretty good i think.
i be more careful on speedbumps.
your oilpan looks pretty scraped up. the headers look like they sit lower so i watch out for bumps and stuff.

exhaust looks pretty good i think i'm gonna do something very very similar I have to see how much clearance i will have tho. Those longtubes look to hang as low as hookers and i was hoping to tuck it up abit more than what it looks, but its hard to say just by looking at pics
how is your ground clearance and is your car lowered at all?

Re: pics of my dougs 1 3/4 LTs and X-pipe true duals!!
the car is lowered courtesy of hotchkis springs that advertise a 1" drop but it looks more like 1.5" to me and everybody else who always say the stance is killer. Ground clearance is suprisingly good, just a TINY BIT less than the edelbrock shorty y-pipe deal I had before and of course these mufflers hang a little lower than the flowmaster I had in the stock location too. It'll take a pretty nasty speed bump to rub though.

Re: pics of my dougs 1 3/4 LTs and X-pipe true duals!!
nice! my car is lowered about the same and i need headers. Seems to me i'll be getting dougs as well and running some sort of true dual exhaust. I now need to either cut the subframes or crossmember to fit them better. I'm thinkin spohn crossmember mods will be necessary to try first before i cut the cars frame

Re: pics of my dougs 1 3/4 LTs and X-pipe true duals!!
Hey man.... that looks good, id like to do true dual and then come out separate ways and go in front of the tire... with a thin and long tip...kinda like nascar does there underbody with the exhaust, u know like the ford lightnings did the exhaust on one side.. id like to do both sides!

first of all, very nice exhaust!
haha second im thinking of doing the same thing with hedman lts, just wondering is that mandrel bent or crush bent? from the pics it looks crush, and what size pipe did you use? did you do it all yourself? or did you have a shop do it? and if you did, what did all of it run you? also what kinda mufflers are those?

Re: pics of my dougs 1 3/4 LTs and X-pipe true duals!!
put it on the dyno today(free hookup ) the exhaust made a whopping 21.7 whp more over the 1 5/8 edelbrock shorty y-pipe, full 3" no cat to a flowmaster crossflow muffler setup I had before and sound a LOT better doing it too!!! that X-pipe with the magnaflows=VERY deep and throaty. So on motor it made 358.4 whp@ 6400rpms(could probably get more if i screwed with the carb a little more) and 367rwtq@ 4500rpms. On a 125 shot it made 476whp@ and 485.6rwtq but I know I can get more because the air/fuel ratio was reading 10:8 at the top during the nitrous pulls so going down to the local speed shop tomorrow to pick up a jet assortment kit and shoot for around 12:0-12:4 air/fuel ratio and that "should" up the numbers a little i think. I'll then head back up to the dyno and see what it does. All the runs were on shell V-power 91 octane, 33* timing on the bottle, 38* on the motor.

Re: pics of my dougs 1 3/4 LTs and X-pipe true duals!!
chevyrules, my friend at exhaust pros bended and welded up the tubes(not mandrel bent) for me and the mufflers are magnaflow straight throughs...could tell you the part# if i knew what i did with my warranty card. The shop is also a magnflow dealer and he suggested those mufflers for a 100% unrestricted flow, extra clearance and the bad a$$ deep bassy rumble especially with the 236/248 duration cam...it has a lope to die for!!
P.S- 2.5" pipes

Man, your car is awsome. Its like you crawled into my head and stole the ideas I had for my car and did them before I could. Everything headers, exhaust, seats, cage, dash cluster. Your friend did a real nice job on the pipes. I hope mine comes out as good as that.

so did he run into any problems running both pipes over the axle in that spot? anything that anyone else should watch for if they attempt this?

Re: pics of my dougs 1 3/4 LTs and X-pipe true duals!!
Well i just ordered my dougs! Summit was backordered till mid april so i bought them through Jegs. $549 Shipped.
Thats a beautiful looking setup. I thought of doing something similar, but i think im just going to exit before the rear tires. Haven't decided completely i got a really good exhaust guy who ill just leave the car with him and let him do his thing.
Ive seen your setup done on a few 4th gens, thats gotta hang pretty low if you are right under the driveshaft. Do you have any shots from the side at ground level?
21rwhp gain with that exhaust setup is amazing! Bet you were happy to see that. Thanks for sharing the pics!

chevyrule, there was no issues to get the tubes over the axle, just bend them right I guess. Orr89RocZ my combo is as follows:
forged and arp studded 10:2:1 355ci

Matt, to be honest I think 1 5/8 primaries is plenty for that 305, 1 3/4 would actually cost you some low to mid-range torque and you'd probably have to wind it higher than 6400rpms to make the same numbers.

i thought about that...but then i keep thinking of all the stock elminator guys that are running the hookers on their 305's...but they spin them a little harder...but i'm planning a cam swap that will allow for power up to ~7k i think.

Nice job. I have to wonder why you didn't take any pictures showing clearance (or lack of) with the car on the ground, maybe with a soda can for perspective. Those headers look to hang as low as Hookers, if not lower. Could you post a couple of pics?

Got my Doug's today! Here are some pics, they look nice except i'm wondering about the slip fit joint on the #8 primary. Have you had any trouble with it leaking or once its installed the heat seals the pips up?
Other then that i can't wait to get these installed this week!

Stevo, I was pretty skeptical about that slip tube too but all you have to do is "wedge" it in properly to make sure there is no free movement of the tube and it'll be good. Put the header on first and then fit that tube in as you'll have to line up the flange on the head if that makes sense.
P.S- hope you got an LT1 starter handy(any parts store will have it,got mine from autozone).

Yup i already have a ministarter, as well as a tubular k-member and virtually nothing in my way, so it should be a clean install. I also run a 5 speed though so i hope the slave cylinder doesn't interfere.

Ya, i know lol i was pissed to see them sold at the price too. I would have bought those in a heartbeat if i didn't already get these. But i'm happy with these, i just hope the fitment is decent.

Re: pics of my dougs 1 3/4 LTs and X-pipe true duals!!
I got my headers in, by far the best fitting headers i've ever seen or used. It does help that i have no ac/heat/ministarter/tubular k-member. But 100% bolted in, did not have to modify anything, didn't even scratch the headers up. They clear the slave cylinder in the bellhousing by at least a 1/4-1/2". I run angled plug heads, and the passenger is fine with normal length plugs and it looks like the driver side bank should be fine also, havent put the plug wires over them yet but the plugs were easy to screw in and out. I am running new polyurethane mounts, and i didn't even have to bring the motor off of the mounts. I slid both headers in from the bottom. Now for ground clearance, i have a 7 quart deep pan and they sit about flush with the pan. I would not say they hang that low, not really visible from the side of the car. I will make a new thread tomorrow and post detailed pictures once i get a camera.
