Need Direct Fit 3" Catalytic Converter For 2055 Headers/Y-Pipe

I am in process of purchasing the 2055 headers from Jet-Hot with air tubes removed and plugged with 3" y-pipe fully ceramic coated along with a GMMG cat-back.

I asked Jet-hot because I still need to go through emissions to get plates for my car that I needed a 3" direct fit cat and they said as long as you get one that fits the stock location and size but is 3" everything should go together perfect..

I CANNOT GET TO AN EXHAUST SHOP

So I have to have my exhaust completely fit...I know the cat-back fits to stock location, and also the y-pipe to the 2055 fit to the stock location, but what 3" high flow cat will mate to both of these systems?

I have only 1 cat I feel will fit http://store.summitracing.com/partde...part=MPE-93441, but it has no bend and says its a direct fit(I know pictures dont always represent actual product, but want to make sure)...I need BIG help because I dont want to order the wrong part or even order these up and never find a perfect fit...or at least close to.

PLEASE, THOSE WITH THE 2055 HEADERS AND Y-PIPE PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT 3" CAT YOU USED.

Part # Please

That was quick....haha

Do you happen to have pictures of your setup?

You didnt need to use any extensions or had to cut anything did you?

Pic below, though not particularly informative. Direct fit--no extensions, cutting, or welding.

Yeah, it's probably only mentioned once a week or so. . .

Seriously, you search on "2055", and it won't take all that long to find "Catco 9118" within a thread.

How much do these cats flow? I mean, what is the flow rate?

That magnaflow cat looks to be the same thing almost exactly, for a lower price. That should work too, right?

Another question I had is, how do you tell if a cat is "hi-flow" it doesent say anything about it on summit.

Re: Need Direct Fit 3" Catalytic Converter For 2055 Headers/Y-Pipe

The GMMG won't reach the Catco 9118. I have both.

Exhaust shop used a tiny piece of my old Flowmaster intermediate pipe to connect the GMMG intermediate pipe to the cat.

Basically the GMMG doesn't bend where the cat is.

Re: Need Direct Fit 3" Catalytic Converter For 2055 Headers/Y-Pipe

Perhaps you've already investigated the Hooker catback (Summit HOK-16823HKR) and discarded the idea, but it's right up this old fart's alley: nasty growl at WOT, but mannerly enough at cruise to allow conversion and/or music. As a plus, it's a direct fit.

For what the link's worth:

I appreciate your comments in the garage.

Re: Need Direct Fit 3" Catalytic Converter For 2055 Headers/Y-Pipe

When I got my 2055's for my car, I found the Y-Pipe didn't have the 4-bolt flange needed to bolt up to the Cat, I had to cut the 4-bolt flange off my old stock Y-pipe (from my exhaust manifolds) and have it welded onto the new y-pipe so I could bolt it to the cat.

Hope this helps.

By the by, did anyone else find they needed to weld up the 4-bolt flange or did your's already come with one on it?

The 2055 Y doesn't come with a flange. The L69 Y/Cat has the 4-bolt, of course, so if you wish to keep the OE cat, welding is required. Many chuck the OE for a no-muss, no fuss three-inch system like the following:

Hooker 2055's (Jeg's 520-2055). Catco high-flow converter (Summit CTO-9118). Hooker catback (Summit HOK-16823HKR).

Is that catco cat a weld-up or bolt in like the OE? Just wondering because even with a weld-up I would have been in the same boat as I was with the flange using the OE cat.

Slip fit to the Y. The pic isn't too great, but you'll get the idea.

and then just clamps down on the y-pipe. Hmm, cool. I'm going to have to look into that when I get my new catback. Thanks!
