dual tip mufflers

I want to have quad exhuast out the back, but i don't want cheezy dual tips. I want to have to mufflers on each side of the gas tank, that have to nice dual tips coming out of them. The only mufflers i can find like that are like borla ***** mufflers though. Aren't ***** mufflers just mufflers that echo more than they muffler. Would these sound good on a V8? And if anyone can find the type of muffler i am descirbe please let me know.

Re: dual tip mufflers

not totally following you. So your looking for mufflers with tips built right onto them? your pretty much limited to "asian food that goes with anything" type mufflers. Other than that, there are millions of mufflers out there with 1 inlet and 2 outlets, then you could choose you own tip. Flowmaster make a shat load of them BTW.

why is ***** blocked? it offensive, just like **** **** *** ***** **** ect.... did you not read the stickies/board rules?

Re: dual tip mufflers

All the dual outlet mufflers have the outlets spaced out. I want my tips to be right next to each other.

So how will an exhuast built for 4 cylinders sound on a v8?

haha um.... i never got around to it. :P

Re: dual tip mufflers

You could run those mufflers. I think they would just sound OK. They are basically a y-pipe and glasspack all in one. I know, because I had them on my v6 monte carlo. They sound like **** on a 60* motor, but on a v8 the would sound alot better.

If you dont like the hooker tips look, and want the glasspack sound, here is what I would do:

have the exhaust shop run you a 3" cat back system in the stock tunnel. Between the catalytic convertor and the rear axle, put a cherry bomb glasspack under the floor

after the pipe goes over the rear axle, have them make a custom y-pipe and run two of these tips out

It will sound alot meaner than those rice mufflers by 3Aracing, and it will be cheaper.

Re: dual tip mufflers

The borla XR-1 sounds excellent in the "loudmouth" style system(like the one above.

And the packing in the glasspacks will burn out eventually and turn into nothing more than a hollow tube.

Is that true for all glasspacks?

Re: dual tip mufflers

Those cherry bombs are cheap enough at pepboys, that when it started to rust/ get blown out , you could just buy a new one and get it welded in for like $50 bucks. My cheapo DTM glasspacks lasted about 2 years before they started to sound "hollow." But the tone definately does change over time as they break in.

Yeah I am going for a loud exhaust and I had noticed that glasspacks were pretty cheap, a 2 yr life span won't be all that bad. Just hope I don't get pulled over here in the city.
