Drivers side muffler hanger tired of the strap thing
Ok I am on my 4th rubber strap hanger now and tired of it breaking. Has anyone ever tried adapting the metal passenger side hanger to the drivers side. or is there a specific reason GM used the rubber strap on the drivers side? .... Welding it on my pipes isn't a problem I'm more worried if using a metal hanger like on the passenger side will cause other annoying sounds or anything.

Re: Drivers side muffler hanger tired of the strap thing
Well, the last one lasted maybe 10-15k miles. I do notice it takes alot of pressure to push that side of the muffler up so thats probably the cause. Either way I just want to put the metal hanger on and not worry about it again.
The exhaust is a IROC 5.7 TPI from log manifolds all the way back. However muffler has been changed as well as tail pipes so it's not like it's mismatched stuff causing it. I am missing the the catalytic converter hanger, but I highly doubt that can be causing this since I see alot of cars without them on here as well. The catalytic converter is welded to the Y-pipe as well as to the catback pipe and everything from there back is welded as well with no clamps. So that eliminates things moving and causing the problem.
Well, guess I'm off to the bone yard today to find a metal hanger.
