Re: mufflex 4"?

Not quite sure what your trying to ask. I have the hooker 2210's and mufflex Y pipe on my car with some 4" pipe I used to fab for my own cat back that exits before the rear axle coming out the passenger side. With a 4" bullet it is UNBELIEVABLY LOUD, but its growing on me

Re: mufflex 4"?

I just finished my custom 4" exhaust over the axle last night. Crew paying that rediculous amount of money on the mufflex. I made my y-pipe and 4" exhaust over the axle w/ mandrel bends. It sure did take alot of time but it was worth every minute. I should be starting my combo and tuning it this weekend.

Re: mufflex 4"?

starfish i think you pretty much answered my question, i was actually wondering if the mufflex y-pipe would reach right up to stock manifolds i kinda figured they would reach your headers, and "loud" is exactly what im lookin for... long as it doesnt sound like a "100hp weed wacker" (read stock honda crx with a 4" exhaust" if anyone has used this system with manifolds please let me know

and thanks zach but my prob is i have no way of madrel bending anything, just out of curiousity though, how much did u spend on fab'n your own exhaust?

Re: mufflex 4"?

i have it on my 97 ws6 its nice but heavy and if you go with it, get everything welded. it sounds good and flows great but i would rather go with a corsa or othere system thats not so drowning in resonance. Bassanie makes a true duel system that we put on our 92z and i love it so much i'm swiching all my cars to it. keep in mind and 4th gen system will bolt on any 3rd gen its just a matter of hooking it up to the headers or manifolds thats where it changes and the hangers in the rear just get the newer ones

clicke the pic for a better look, this is on a 92z the system was for a 98-02 f body t-304 stainless

Re: mufflex 4"?

No the mufflex Y will not bolt onto stock manifolds. They only bolt onto the hooker 2210's. Stock manifolds would need some kind of an extension made/welded/ or bolted up to them to make that Y pipe fit.

Do you have any problems going down the road? I like that system but that "between the axle and panhard rod" pipe makes me EXTREMELY nervous...

No crunching/bending/smashing/scraping issues?????

Re: mufflex 4"?

No, they will not bolt to the 2055's. Only the 2210's work with that y-pipe. The 2055's are a shorty design.

Re: mufflex 4"?

the resonence is the annoying loudness that put you to sleep and makes you blow your speakers just to hear the radio. there are no clearance issues with the under pan-hard rod. yes it does hit, but the car is lowered w long tubes and it only hit under the tranny the rest if fine but my mufflex hit in the rear where it bend up over the axel

Re: mufflex 4"?

My buddy has the 4" mufflex system on his 88 IROC with a fairly stout 406. Sounds real mellow. not really as loud as you might think. but it also has a Flowmaster Muffler which doesn't seem real popular for this system. Deffinetly get it welded, at least a few strong beeds as we've had issues also.

Wow, mine is far from mellow but I have the spintech muffler instead.

Re: mufflex 4"?

Mine is a Mufflex 4", with the Spin Tech muffler, definitely loud and rowdy. It connects to the end of the stock cat (Cat back, you get it?), transitions from the stock diameter cat piping to 4".

It sounds very aggressive and turns heads. Everyone gives me compliments on the evil sound, but the resonance makes it annoying to us old groaners after a while. Great performance, good fit, you need to do the tack welds, like the guys say. If you want the biggest Di*k on the block, this is the way to go.

Here is a clip of my 91 Formula. It was a couple of years back and had the SLP 1 3/4" headers, Random Tech cat and Mufflex 4" catback with Flowmaster muffler

Re: mufflex 4"?

I've just installed the Stainless Works longtubes by "Hawks" and the 4" Mufflex cat back system last week. Costom 3" piping from headers to "Y" pipe.
LOUD she is...and real nice sounding, twice as many looks and compliments now. And performance is night and day from my old SLP shorties and stock piping.
