Need help with 1 3/4" header selection!
I need to get a set of full lenght 1 3/4" primary headers to use with a manual trans. What are my options??? I see alot of you having trouble with the 2210's from Hooker, and the Ed Quay's won't fit with my stock K-member(so says their website). Help!!!! I dont mind cutting on the car to make them fit, give me some ideas......

Id go with the 2210's. My buddy Matt is running them with his T-56 without problems, I have them too, but havent installed them yet and I have a T56 as well.
Here is a pic of my buddy Matt's 2210's and his custom fabbed Y-pipe and tranny crossmember. I myself will be using the Skulte longtube crossmember and a custom built Y-pipe. Hope that helps

Thanks. Looks nice. We are going to abuse the T-5 until it breaks, and hopefully score a T-56 in the future. How is the ground clearance with the 2210'S?

Could always be better. LOL. Right now Im running stock 92 Z28 springs in my car. Ive done aluminum heads, removed the a/c and smog pump, and have a fiberglass SS hood. All of these mods have made my front end sit up higher than Id like. My front actually is higher than my rear and looks kinda dumb IMO. Id love to put a pro kit in it, but Im gonna wait and see where I sit as far as ground clearance goes. My car becomes my daily driver in the summertime, so Id like to have as much ground clearance as I can. Like I said, I havent installed them yet, so well see.

click to enlarge. those are hooker 2210s. If you are DEADSET on LT's then get the hookers otherwise I would invest in some quality shorties (maybe SLP). as you can see I did NOT ceramic coat mine and my headers paid the price. I would get them ceramic coated before installing them if I had to do it over again. Then again, If I had to do it over again I would have gotten Shorties!!
I love my LT's, but I hate driving around with them. The header collector flanges have even flattenned out a little bit from scraping the ground!

bummer. I don't think that will be enough clearance when we drop the nose 1.5". My only concern is the flow on the shorties. I have actually seen a few sets that are 1 3/4" primaries, but no one talks about using them for any serious HP. My heads flow 285 cfm on the intake side (2.08's) and the exhaust flows 214 (1.60's) so I really need the bigger tubes. I really don't want to mortage the house for a set of Lemmons or Ed Quays. I did talk to a guy today that uses the Ed Quay's on his Super Stocker, but the K-member has a serious cut-out. Maybe I will just run zoomies out through the hood. I always liked the Demo derby look....

I have Lemons on my car and love them. They are spendy but the ground clearance rocks!!!!!!!!!! The lowest point on my car is the bottom of my T56. I have a custom cross member, TA mount, and I reworked my frame for room for my exhaust. My car is lowered 2"

Do you have any pics? I may have to deal with some small tubes this summer and save up for the Lemmons. $1200 is alot for headers....

I'll chime in on the Ed Quays. The crossmember does not have to be modified at all. I know it says it on the website but call them. I have 1 7/8's with a factory k member. I have pic's posted somewhere on here. Just search quay and it will come up. Comp788 headers are also a nice fit too. He has pic's posted also.

Cool. The Quay's I have seen were very cool, and they fit nice on a stick car. I might have to use the 1 5/8" until I get enough cash to get the Quay's. You never see used sets for sale, maybe they are that good??? Some guys at work are trying to talk me into building a set, but that looks like it might be an ALL winter project. I want to get the car together and go break some parts....
Anybody want to hook me up with a cheap set of used LT'S?????
