Wow thats like two inches from the ground. There wasnt anyway to tuck it up under. Got to go easy on those bumps or you will have no exhaust.

well before i had these Dougs longtubes i had edelbrocks shortys with the borla and they would crack and pop at anything above 3000 underload everyone made fun of me sounded like a V6.

But now with the current setup it sounds pretty close to a LS1 car.
no more popping, no more cracking. just pure V8 exhaust tone.
cutout open or closed shes sounds so good.

I LOVE BORLA and she looks great with them really pulls of the rear look.(square tips)

Re: Dr Pepper CAN TEST

my y-pipe cost me $300.00,

plus i already had the cats, and "Y" so add about $120.00

so about 420.00 for just the y pipe right now as it sits on the car.

it was a rip off, but it sounds great.

Mine's a tad lower than yours but I have the hooker 2210's and a homemade 3" y-pipe to a single 4" system over the axle all fabricated by my dad and I. Sound nice. Nice set up man.

Re: Dr Pepper CAN TEST

I dont think anyone with duals realy has much better clearance than that. The crossmember for hte transmission is always going to be in the way and there's only so much room between that and the ground.

Re: Dr Pepper CAN TEST

If you want thirdgen longtubes that will clear a can, then personally I think that Hawk's has the best chance (Stainless Works), but they ain't cheap. Here is just a little jpeg I made comparing Doug's and Hawk's. Notice how much tighter the Hawk's really hug up closer to the tranny pan. Take into account that these two pics are at slightly different angles and admittedly it does favor Hawk's. If you go to their website, they have side pics of clearance and it looks like their's are 100% even with the subframe rails, but after that, the ypipe has to drop down to clear the tranny xmember anyay.

Re: Dr Pepper CAN TEST

If you want the best of both worlds and money is no object, then get some Hawk's longtubes and throw on some Dr. Gas frame clearance tubes where the head pipes cross the tranny x-member.

I've said before, and I'll say it again - they still have to clear the crossmember. The crossmember is only going to have so muc hroom between it and the ground with any system. They've got great clearance, true, but their clearance at the tranny crossmember is no better than any other system with 2.5 inch pipes.

Color me unimpressed.

Re: Dr Pepper CAN TEST

Wow, you guys are running low..

The lowest point on mine is the k-member.. it is a drews piece. The headers are 1 5/8 hedmans, for the main reason I decided I wanted ground clearance rather than go 1 3/4.. the link is to some pics from a previous post.. it runs dual 2.5 inch into a flowmaster y and then a 4inch mufflex with a spintech muffler.. very LOUD. Need to get some more pics but this gives an idea of the clearance. Yes there are two pipes running between the crossmember on either side of the tranny.. skulte makes a similar piece. This is on Eibach Pro's.

Re: Dr Pepper CAN TEST

Vortex, you said it and you'll say it again.... actually you just said the same thing I did in my quote. But IF you wanted more clearance at the tranny crossmember, then one could use those Dr. Gas frame clearance tubes to tuck them up tighter in that problem spot.
