Y-pipe, etc

All right, I need to find a y-pipe for my brother's 85 T/A. He had dynomax blackjack shorty headers, and a dynomax super-turbo catback + stock cat/testpipe, and he needs to find a source for the rest of the piping between the two components. I've tried summit and such, but can't find a y-pipe suitable for this application. Any ideas or leads? The headers have a 2.5" collector with a 3-bolt flange, and the cat is stock size inlet. Thanks in advance.

the kit the headers came with should come with reduces that you modify your y pipe to slip on the you weld it on the reducers or you can clamp it on. i just got the kit and figured that out havent put it on yet though

Well, I dont think he has the reducers, but maybe he does. Problem is, there is no y-pipe to modify. He needs a new one, and I'd rather not find a replacement stock one if there is a better one to be had.

well sorry but i havent heard of any other companies or even dynomax making a y pipe for it. although i believe that dynomax makes a true dual kit that plays off these but you already got the cat back like me. try a local exhuast shop people are gonna tell you to make you a custom y pipe to fit. thats all i can think of.

If I'm reading their website correctly, those are p/n 85012, 1-1/2" primary tubes. Footnote 33 says "...headpipe fabrication required". Headpipe in their terminology means y-pipe in ours. It also says "305 only" - that's because of the 1-1/2" primary tubes.

Cut your losses. Get a set of Hooker 2055HKR and be done with it. If the other parts you got are '85-specific, you'll have to modify the cat inlet to match the slip-fit of the 2055HKR y-pipe outlet to the cat. Or, the Dynomax 88733 are 1-5/8" shorties, 3" collectors, with y-pipe. But, they're about $100 more than the 2055HKR's, and I don't know details of the design (such as whether 3" after the down pipes "Y" together, like the 2055HKR y-pipe is).
