Good for a mild 350, or a 305. How much$$? They look pretty beat. If the price is right, I guess you can have them blasted, and coated. You have a nice car, BTW.

They do look pretty ratty, but not really bad... just have them sandblasted and they'll be good as new.

ya thats what i was going to do. sandblast and then paint em like bright silver or something. ive heard people have problems with these headers rusting quicker than usual or something. is there anything i can do to prevent that, like a certain kind of paint or primer or something? also i scored them for $85 shipped w/ the y-pipe you think i got a deal?

I got those headers. I was in the same boat as you. Didnt want to spend $400+ on a set of new headers so I found a used pair. No real complaints here. The y-pipe was a little difficult to get lined up and the last bolt on the passenger side is a pain in the *** to tighten but thats about it. $85 shipped is a nice deal too

If youre getting them cheap, get them sandblasted and then ceramic coated they will never rust again.

Exhausts clearance

I have the edelbrock TES header also, decent fit but not great quality, they do rust and are prone to leak at the heads for some reason.

Also, I have a GTA (lower suspension stock) and low profile tires, and my stock exhaust drags over speed bumps. Life in a 3rd gen.

I have them on my lowered 87 Iroc, I had them ceramic coated all the way through the Y pipe. My cat still hangs really low, but not more than stock. I have a larger oil pan so I had to modify the crossover part of the Y slightly. I am running them through a high flow 3" cat and flowmaster muffler and it sounds sweet. When I had them on my old 305 with stock oil pan they fit no problem.

well i have seen a bunch of people use high temp header paint with good results. im gonna try that first and if it doesnt come out that great ill get them powdercaoted. any idea how much it would cost to sandblast them? and is there anything i could do about the leak problem at the heads?

I used a place in Colorado that sandblasted and did the ceramic coating for like $225 and that was with red and clearcoat on the headers and flat red on the y pipe

and honestly, here in GA were maroon88iroc and i are, the high temp paint will do just fine. if we were in a place with bitter cold snowy winters, i'd suggest going with ceramic coating.

High temp paint works, I just like the ceramic coating because it does a nice job on cutting back on engine compartment temp and gets the heat down to the cat. The maintenence is nice too, because there is none.

How old are those? If they're the old design with the 1 1/2" and 1 5/8" tubes then stay away. Yes they're better than stock manifolds but they are much better headers out there.
And DO NOT EVER USE HEADER WRAP!! Sorry to use caps but I cannot stress that enough. Header wrap will trap the heat inside the metal, which gets up over 1000 degrees. The metal will disintegrate at that temp and before long you will have holes in your headers.
I havent had much luck with high-temp paint, either. It always flakes off. Ceramic coating is the best way to go to make a set of headers last.

Car: too many ...
I bought a used set from a member here for around $300 but they were ceramic coated by Chris at CE Coatings (also another member here) so I thought it was worth it. The install was not bad but I haven't had much time using them so no opinion yet on how well they work. The main reason I went with these is because I'm building a motor on the side with 113 aluminum heads and there are a few people on these forums running those heads and the TES system with no problems. I guess because the 113 heads exhaust port loation is a little different from the iron L98 heads (little bit higher) I wanted to make sure I got headers that worked with both heads, and these seem to be the only ones that have been verified (from what I read). My only gripe with my experience is the y-pipe that came with them has a mangled weld on the bottom, not sure if its gonna leak or not. Definately not the fault of Edelbrock or anything, previous owner said it happened at some dealer somewhere *shrug*

Here's the only pic I have so far:
