GMMG chambered catback on a 305tbi?
Anyone ever done this...if so does anyone have a sound clip or video they could link me to?

People have run the GMMG cat-back on 3rd gens but I can't recall of any that did it with an LO3. It would be a safe bet to assume that you will not like the sound. Sound preference is subjective to individual tastes but I do not think you will like the sound. Motors that lack power don't sound as good (assuming your hot rodder ear is similar to mine) with chambered, non muffler, non cat systems.
Use the search function to dig up some other threads that deal with this type of cat-back.

I was gonna put a GMMG on my car when they were still a sponsor of Ls1tech and i would have been able to get it for 600 through a group purchase. They stopped being a sponsor so i looked elsewhere. I now have the hooker catback sitting in my garage .
Anyway, No- no one has put one an LO3 yet. IT sounds badass on the L98, and it sounds insane on the LT1. I cant imagine how it would sound bad on our cars, it just might not have as much authority. Try it. At the very least you'd be extremely unique.

Yeah but GMMG is just an axle-back sytem, you still need a new I-pipe and stuff.

The I pipe can be made easily. I can get the same system as the gmmg made at my local shop for $400, but it doesn't include the chambered mufflers. At $120 a muffler, I think I'm going with a bullet. I haven't truly decided yet, but I absolutly love the sound of a gmmg axle back system. After watching a few vids on ls1sounds.com, I'm hooked. I'll decide once the new motor is dropped in.
I'd have Hooker shorties, Hooker Y-pipe (3"), Magnaflow 3" cat, 3" I pipe. The toss up is using the GMMG or a 3" Dynomax Bullet with single exit. Any sound clips of the bullet?

I just spent all weekend working on my buddies (19Doug90) iroc and talking about his exhaust and seeing his new setup. He has SLP 1 3/4 headers, 3" ypipe, 3" cat, 3" i pipe that goes into a dynomax super flo and has a single 3" exit. He said its not as loud as his old chambered muffler setup but it has a nice rumble to it. My idea is almost the same as what you had on you're old T/A urban, taking the bullet muffler and putting that into the I pipe before it goes over the axle, than have a similar setup to a loudmouth going over the axle and having dual tips. My question is how loud would this setup be with what I mentioned in earlier posts (my exhaust) compared to say the sound vid I just listened too or the GMMG system. I want loud, but not uber HELLO IM LOUD loud, lol!

Re: GMMG chambered catback on a 305tbi?
I think we should find a way to put a video thread in the exhaust CATEGORY that will be a sticky so all those looking can watch all of them in 1 thread...instead of making new threads all over the place asking the same, SOUND CLIP SOUND CLIP?
Lets try and get that done if we can....
P.S. I didnt know GMMG was an axle-back.....no longer interested in that exhaust, I guess flowmaster it is, cheap, good sound, full cat-back.

GMMG comes with an intermediate pipe. You can see it closest to the back seat.

Only saw the title and I say do it, GMMG is the best exhaust sound you can get. just hands down the best.

do the gmmg or borla, u cant beat the sound, quality or flow of those two. if $$$ is an issue. go hooker for half the price. but the borla or gmmg will out last anything, and hold up to any upgrades in the future. cam swap, moter swap, anything.

Re: GMMG chambered catback on a 305tbi?
What would this GMMG sound like if we cut the pipe on the left side of the chambered muffler that is the lowest in the picture, and re-route that pipe down the left side of the car to make this exhaust a true-dual setup instead of coming from a y-pipe? How would it sound, anybody got a clue or an idea?

Re: GMMG chambered catback on a 305tbi?
So basically fabricate true duals with some stainlessworks chambered mufflers? It would probably sound like a old school muscle car more. Like a 60's or 70's camaro. But your 305 will need alot of mods first to help that sound.
Also, good luck getting that 2nd pipe over the LEFT side of the axle, you prolly need to run the two pipes together.

I hear ya, yeah thanks. I knew about the 305 part, I've got a 427 Ram Jet on the way, so that should REALLY help the sound. Yeah, after I submitted my reply, I got to thinking about that left side axle, about all the crap that's under there blocking my way!

Re: GMMG chambered catback on a 305tbi?
And another thing, which would sound better with the GMMG exhaust (I know it's all an interpertation, but...) in terms of loudness, resonance, low, rumbling sound, etc... Hooker LT's or Pacesetter LT's? I like the sound of the Pacesetter, giving a camaro a racecar sound, but I heard that Hooker delievers a much more boastful rumble, low, aggressive tone. My biggest concern is the lower the resonance or drone, the better, and then the louder the better.
Thanks!
Thanks!
