How to repair the catalytic converter's hanger?

The strap / belt?? Of the catalytic converter hanger that hangs the catalytic converter to the transmission is cut, and they are discontinued from GM; on other hand, most of those hangers at the junk yard are in very bad shape. It seems that hanger could be repaired easily; it only needs to drill out the rivets and put a new strap on.
I assume that I can't replace it with a solid piece of metal due the fact of the cat needs to flex a bit. The strap is made out of some kind of a strong , hard rubber, and I am afraid to replace it with rubber that does not resist heat or that cut easily.
Now here is the question, what type of material is the belt made out of? (Or an alternative) and where can I buy it at?
Thanks

Different size/shape hanger brackets have been used, so get the part number off of it and call Tom at House of Camaro, 1-800-460-6789. He has them.

Any muffler shop can make you a hanger. I had the same problem last week, took it to a muffler shop and they made one from a generic GM hanger and installed it in about 10 minutes. Cost, $35 dollars....
