Okay one last time....

I promise after this I will never ask for a new exhaust question ever again....well maybe I dunno.

Ok, I have a 1991 Camaro RS w/ 305 TBI, now my main grudge is I want this car to be loud outside, I do not know which muffler to get...I was told that the Dynomax Bullet would do fine on my car and make it throaty however when I went to get the muffler put on they told me "not this will not fit on your car because its using the stock set up, your current muffler has 3 outlets, one on the left and two on the right, I cant put this on" but then I said but its a universal application it should fit and then they told me yeah universal except for this one. I know it didnt make much sense to me too, I think the guy was an idiot to be honest with you but he may have been right.

Anyways, I just want a good muffler put on there and I will start building my customs from there, I may just shell out and get a full cat back system but I dont have the time nor money to spend on a new cat back, I just want something that
ll tide me over. I was thinking magnaflow muffler, but how would something like that sound on my car? Theres one for 80 bucks online at summitracing.com it looks good and it looks to be the same thing as the guy had at his shop but wanted to charge me 115 for it. I love the sound Magnaflow makes, but the only ones I have heard were on the Trans Ams and Formulas and Z28s, I dont know how much better it;ll sound on my car, I want it to really roar when I rev it up and I want people to know I am coming.

Which one muffler should I get? Magnaflow, should I take the Dynomax again to another exhaust shop, or maybe a Flowmaster 40 series? Thanks again you guys

you could put the bullet on but you will only have one tailpipe and the stock one has 2 tailpipe cause of the of the crossflow muffler and the bullet is single inlet and single outlet. i have a magnaflow on my lg4 and it sounds very good no raspy it is very deep and sounds loud when your at WOT. its quite at idel and all you hear is the rumble.

Look at the numerous sound clips posted on this site. Exhaust sound is very personal, so the only way you trully no whats "best" is by hearing it. That being said I like the sound of any chambered muffler

Unforunatly I don't have pictures of how it was done on my car, but yes you can have the bullet installed! Dude just didn't want to do some custom work. And you can have either one or two tailpipes.

Install the bullet in the I-Pipe (before the axle and after the cat). Then route it up over the top of the axle and then out the back. If you wanted dual exits you can use a Y-splitter at the top of the axle and route it out like that. If he asks what Y-splitter, tell him flowmaster makes a great 3" in, 2x2.5" out splitter.

The bullet does require custom work, as it is no where near close to what your stock muffler looks like.

Edit: Excuse my crude paint drawing, but it gets the idea across:

well, this is how I see it, apparently the exhaust shop in town wants 235 dollars for a full on installation of Magnaflow muffler....new tail pipes and all that....

so I am thinking why not pay the extra bucks more and just get a full on exhaust catback for only 25 bucks more....

I am particularly eyeing some Hooker Super comptetition Catback, I love the way Hookers sound....what do you guys think

so I guess I am not the only one being priced for muffler installation....

Well I mean in general, I always thought you buy the muffler for 80 and installation another 40 so in total 120 bucks, i was surprised when they ran that 235 dollar job up my ***.

Wouldnt I just be better off getting a catback though, and again, the magnaflow on your car would sound a lot different then mine, you have an LG4 I have the LO3, is that like a magnificent difference or a marginal?

I just want my car to sound deep at idle, and terrifying at WOT.

Magnaflow is prolly my first choice but seeing as how they dont make catbacks for 3rd gens (!!!!!) I am stuck with getting the muffler only and building my customs from there. Hooker I heard sounds awesome, would this fit my car though?

Cause this is the one I want....

EDIT: Link obviously doesnt work so go here www.summitracing.com and paste this HOK-16820HKR

Thats my exhaust will it fit>?

you could get magnaflow catback but you will need hangers. if you want the hooker that system that you picked will fit. LO3 has 170HP and lg4 has 165HP not much of a difference and more HP you have more sound you will get . they both will sound the same.

170hp, why does this car seem so much faster than it already has under that hood...

you just have the magnaflow muffler installed right?

I guess I'll order my muffler online and get it installed here, they wanna charge me 115 for the same muffler I can pick up online for no more than 85 dollars....I save myself a good 30 bucks....

I'll get the muffler for now and when time comes I'll get some other stuff....

The magnaflow is definetly a very deep and bassy system, you would not be disappointed. Even at WOT it is still bassy, way nicer than a Slowmaster cat-back.

There would be no difference in how an LG4 sounds compared to an L03.

I am just kinda concerned that it wont give me the same feel and over all performance of a full on cat back if I do just get the magnaflow muffler....

I cant get a full on cat back system by magnaflow but does it really matter?

Would the 93-97 LT1 cat back magnaflows fit on my car if I do get those hangers?

I love the sound of magnaflow I am only a couple of days away from deciding

The only difference is that you'll be using stock piping size instead of the 3". With an LO3, I wouldn't really worry about it. To get serious power out of that motor you'll have to tear into it anyway.

And besides, you can always replace the pipes later! Just make sure to ask them to weld the muffler in such a way that the pipes can be fully cut off to weld 3" on later.

Yes the 4th gen catback will fit with some modification. Nothing drastic.

My buddy put 1 bullet exiting into dual tail pipes on his 85 el camino 305. It has a nice low growl to it when he starts it, or when he gets on it.

I put a 3" hooker catback from summit racing on my iroc, and I love the way it sounds. To me, it idles kind of loud, but definately sounds badass when you give it any gas.
