Dynomax Ultra Flow vs Flowmaster 80 series

Can anyone comment on the sound difference between the Dynomax Welded Ultra Flow (p/n 17227) and a Flowmaster 80 series muffler?

I am very familiar with the sound of an 80 series and would like to know how the Ultra Flow will differ. I also understand the Dynomax will flow much better. Just comparing sound. Right now I am yet to hear an Ultra Flow on a 3rd gen, but I do like the sound of an 80 series.

Thanks!

the ultra flow will be a more revy sound and yes will sound better than the flowmaster IMO. It will be more linear as you increase throttle the sound will start to get wilder.

At idle which muffler will be louder? I am guessing the Flowmaster will be louder.

How about at WOT?

Some people have told me the Dynomax has a deeper tone to it. Can anyone comment on this?

Dynomax all the way! I've got Dynomax on my 92 Camaro and it sounds bad ***! My buddy has the same car with the Flowmasters, and it does not sound half as good. The Flowmasters will give you a loud obnoxious popping sound, whereas the dynomax will give you a way deeper rumbling sound. Not to mention they flow better!

if you want ground pounding sound, and overly loud interior noise, the slowdisaster is a perfect choice.

Is that clip without your cat? It definately sounds pretty good. I am really swaying towards the Dynomax. I'll have to put the Flowmaster kit up for sale

There are (or were) 2 different mufflers for the series 80 Flowmasters. I got mine from Summit Racing, and the part I used was FLO-53083. It is 5 inches thick, not the normal 4, and it gives a deeper rumble. With an otherwise stock exhaust, (for now), it has just a bit more of a rumble than the stock setup did. For me that was what I was looking for.

I know summer is just about gone, but if you aren't in a hurry, try going to some car shows ans seeing if someone will start up their car for you. That way you can listen and hear for yourself.
