Dual Cat Header Inquery
Ok, after reading many many posts on the subject, I'm still a bit confused.
I have a 92 trans am with dual magna flow cats and 3" cat back. I'm looking into installing headers in the car, and I'm a bit confused about which set to go with.
I was originally leaning towards the 2460 with the "new" y-pipe being offered, but then read somewhere that it isn't street legal? is that true? if so, then should i go with the 2055's?
i dunno if my car has A.I.R. and if i need to worry about it
any other issues / suggestions and advice that I should be aware of?
also, painted vs ceramic headers... a preference issue, correct? as i see it, its ~ $200 difference ( at least for the 2460's )
thanks!

I will assume you have AIR, unless you or someone else removed it since it came that way from the factory. Living in CA, you're gonna need it. I don't think anyone makes any dual cat ypipe with their headers anymore... SLP used to, but dropped them. Your best bet for emission legal (with AIR) headers are going to be SLPs (with AIR), or Hooker 2055s. There are others out there, like Edelbrock and Mac. To retain the dual cat setup, the ypipe will have to be modified by being cut before where they merge into one (the SLPs do come a little further back than the 2055s before they merge). Then you'll need to tie them into the dual cats.
The 2460s don't have the AIR provision, as you stated, so no, they are not street legal.

You can see pics of the SLPs here.

and the Macs here.
Well, according to this chart, Edelbrock lists a dual cat header here #6876. Hmmm.
