flowmaster 80's

I just installed a new flowmaster 80 on my stock 1992 camaro and it dosent realy sound load or powerfull. i wanted to know if the cat and stock manifold coud be holding be back form that great sound you guys are talking about in other posts.

and my dad was joking around the other day about putting a classpack in the place of the cat and keeping the flowmaster on the back. LOL. and i was just wondering what that would sond like pls leave some comments about that crazy idea?

but plz help me about my little sound problem?

for starters get a pair of HEADERS, headers will give it a more deeper tone. If you dont like blowmaster then change the muffler

They will get louder with time. I noticed mine did after a few weeks. But I also heard some sound bites from this web site with camaro's with the Hooker exhaust and I think I'm going to switch. The Hooker sounded better.

i had my dual cats removed and headers installed and it opened the exhaust up quit a bit. My flowmaster is plenty loud...plus..I've had it on there for almost 3 years now. It also helps if you have a 3 inch cat back and a 3 inch "I" pipe. Also, flowmasters sound way different on 305's than they do on 350's. 350's seem much louder, deeper...and better overall. But they still sound good on 305's too.

I have an 80 on my v6 and I used to like it, but I wouldnt ever do that on my TA. The plan now is to just get an electric cutout and a set of headers so I can still have it quiet, but loud when I want..

I also have that current set-up. It's deathly loud with a cutout....sounds like a NASCAR....it makes the flowmaster sound like stock exhaust...but then again...the cutout doesn't really have a "tone"...it's just loud as hell...whereas the flowmaster has a nice tone to it.

Get a Hi-flow cat or run a pipe through your current one.

well i dont think il switch to hooker yet because the flowmasters cost about $160 but i got them for $90 brandnew too. i think i will put some headers and get rid of that crapy SH**y stock y-pipe and cut that cat. and i hope that would make it sound better.

go with a strait pipe at the cat, and throw on some headers. thats what i did and it sounds a lot more aggresive and louder.

american thunder system is flowmaster 80 series muffler. i got it and its dual 3inch outlets and 3inch inlet. its decently loud. force 2 systems are weak

spintech makes a good muffler. the 344sc model. 3inch in dual 3inch out A bit more pricey but sounds good i hear. I am thinking about it LOL

basically, i looses the flowmaster tone and starts to sound more like a blowing sound. some people may have a better way of discribing it, but thats just how i would

yea but one exaust pipe comming from the back of an f body would look pretty dumb. no one here will do duals because of past issues with f bodys and they say they will try it again with no returns and $400+. to me thats not worth it.

Don't listen to the people that say that flowmaster, "sounds like s*** on our cars." I have the 3" American Thunder system with the crossflow 80 series along with a 3" Catco Cat and I think it sounds great. NO CAMARO OR FIREBIRD is going to sound like a 5.0 or 4.6 Mustang with the Flowmaster because they are just different in many ways. So don't expect a Mustang sound, but the sound my little 305 TBI gives out of my setup sounds great at idle, great at cruising, and is quite loud at hard accelleration. Just get rid of that stock cat and 2 1/4" piping and you'll hear what I'm talking about. You won't be dissappointed with the Flowmaster in the long run...they sound awesome when "burned in."

Flowmaster sounds great on our cars. Nothing rumbles or sounds as muscular as performance SBC's and BBC's. I don't know who would want that hollow, high pitched, and annoying M*stang sound. It's like a continuous fake/recorded sound no matter what the RPM's are at. I won't even get into which were nicer/louder all stock or if you give the Chevy true duals to match.
