Edelbrock TES question

I'm currently looking at Edelbrock TES 68722 for my '89 350 TPI Firebird Formula. However, I have a few questions...

1) I see that the "cutting and welding required" footnote has been added for these. Is this referring to the old exaust pipes?

2) Has anyone installed these on an '89 350 TPI? Are they difficult to install?

3) How do I hook-up my existing A.I.R. tubes to the new headers?

4) Will these provide a noticable difference on my application? I did a search and saw some people say Yes/No on theirs.

By no means am I close to being a mechanic... I was looking for a set that wasn't too difficult to install and will provide better flow/more power than my factory exaust manifolds. TES seemed to come with all the necessary pipes, bolts, etc.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

My dad got a set of TES Headers w/ y-pipe for the 90 Formula from Summit. The headers were coated in nickel, or something of that nature. After looking at them, he wasn't happy with the collector design.

I believe the air tubes would connect without a problem, just slip the rubber tube on and tighten the o-ring clamp.

As for having all of the parts, your still going to need header bolts and gaskets. Possibly some other things, but I would need to see what's included in the kit.

Do you have a link to the kit?

TransAm12sec,
Thank you for your reply. I do have a link to the Edelbrock kit. I'm basically trying to find out how difficult these are to install, on my application, in the "real world". I've never installed a set of headers before, so I have numerous questions (such as those above). I have some worry that, no matter which header brand I go with, I will end-up with something difficult (or impossible for a newbie) to install. Thanks again.

yes. i would say that's about right. whatever headers u get u have to do the same steps. i've heard more bad than .....well...more bad than "they r ok"...i haven't heard any...wow these r great....go with some hooker or headman.

i got headman and they were my first header install. u might need to fab something up to mate the y-pipe and cat, but u can drive to an exhaust shop to have that done, u'll have to drive with the open headers and Y-pipe, but it wouldn't be for very long.

There are a a bunch of articles on header installs. Seaching the boards can give you hours of information. Here are a few.

Here's the deal with those.... you're going to need to get a 3" cat(random tech, catco), and a 3" cat back exhaust... the y-pipe is not going to mate up with your stock cat. If you would like headers with a y-pipe that will mate up with your stock cat, i believe the part number is 6873. However, if you got the ones that mate up with your stock exhaust, you might as well forget about headers alltogether, cause edelbrocks are not known for their superior flow and then if you put them in front of that stuffy stock exhaust, you aint gonna feel ****. I have them(6872), and I am happy with them, but i have a random tech 3" cat and a flowmaster american thunder cat back to go with them. The kit comes with EVERYTHING you need and for headers, its a pretty easy install (read and follow included instructions!!!, not worth trying to figure it out by yourself, save yourself some time and just read the damn instructions). Also, i def. got very noticeable power gains from this.
