Modified 305...can I use a cat converter?

All,

I'm running a 305 that has been de-computerized all the way around. I no longer have the AIR, EGR...it all went bad, and I couldn't afford to keep up with that rich man's game. My cat has finally rusted through, and I have to replace it.

What can I replace it with that won't get clogged without the O2, AIR, etc.? Am I stuck with going to an X or H pipe from my headers to the rear? Not that I would mind making it dual, but I've never welded. If I buy a cat system, I can just take it somewhere.

Any advice?

I would look at any cat that does not come with an AIR tube. Your cat will only clog if you have incomplete combustion (ie. excessively rich or lean). If your carb is tuned right than you shouldn't have any problems. Most cats will clog if you run more than 1% away from stochiometric for long periods of time.
