My exhaust just got really loud a couple days ago. The cat has been gutted ever since I got the car last April but sounds like there is a whole in the muffler but nothing is disconnected and there is no rust anywhere. Could it be something with the engine? Is there any worry of anything bad?

If your car all of the sudden got really loud, you have an exhuast leak some place. Can you tell where the "loudness" is coming from? One place that I would start looking is at weld spots of the exhaust itself. I went through this a while back. I gunned it one morning and all of the sudden my car got really loud also. Come to find out the Cat had broke a weld right where it enters the body. As soon as I ran a bead down it, the 'LOUDNESS" went away. Give that a shot and see what you find.

Also check the collectors and make sure your manifold/header bolts are tight.

Mine did that a few months back. I just got loud all of a sudden. This is when the stock setup was still on there. Where was it you ask? The entire pipe, starting at the beginning of the bend over the axle and running into the muffler, had began to crack. where the tube was curled and welded into the tube it came apart. Wasn't too long before it completely ripped apart and my muffler fell off.
