Dynomax SQUISH Over Axle #43248 PICS

This is what the WLK-43248 Over axle pipe on our cars looks like. We've all heard it was squish a bit to clear the panhard brace, but I didn't think it was this bad!

Get a flowmaster Full Catback or Hooker Full cat back and be happy. All I needed was this piece and I wish the other companys sold just the I pipe parts.

Dear gosh,

that's awful.

I did as you suggest earlier this year. I bought the Flow kit and eventually added the Dynomax straight-through Welded muffler. Sure, fitting the full-diameter Flow pipe took some work, but the sound and better pipe are worth it.

Peace,

K

Even though it suucks I'll end up using this as I have the rest of the I pipe fabricated. I'll have an electric cutout if I wanna see full exhaust potential!

Can I ask how much you paid for that? I know it has the bend but I could use this to fix my damaged I pipe. Don't they also make a full I-pipe as well?

WLK-43248 Intermediate Pipe 3" 86-91 Camaro/Firebird 5.0, 5.7 4V, HO & EFI(Code F) $48.99

WLK-44063 Intermediate Pipe 3" 86-91 Camaro/Firebird 5.0, 5.7 4V, HO & EFI(Code F) $82.99

The first part number is what I got. No one showed pics of how bad it was, either way its not that big of deal because of my cutout and I don't have the $350 for a catback, the shop will make my cutout pipe replacement of cat and pipe from cat to this one for less than a cat back. I've already got a flowmaster.

The second part number is the pipe from a stock ball flange cat to the over axle pipe.

Hey thanks a lot. I only have one more question. Do you know if that sceond part has the same crimp in it? Is it the same pice as you have but with a longer section of pipe attached to it? Also how are you going to connect that to your muffler. Doesn't your cat back have a 3 bolt flange on the end of your current I pipe right after the axle?

That looks like mine. No big deal unless your running at max cap of a 3" pipe.

For comparison, my old Dynomax one peice 2.5" I pipe had the same thing too.

Both the 2.5 and 3" have that.

It would be real nice to see some back to back runs with the cut out open and closed to see how much the squish matters. If you got the 900+cfm muffler then the squish will probably be the limiting factor. But it is so far back in the system I wonder how much it really effects horsepower, since supposedly the density do to the temp change makes the diameter requirement less further back.

Is your y-pipe 3 iches also?

I have 1 5/8" headers to 2 1/2" pipe from each that join into a 3" Y.

I will be on the Dyno the end of this month and will post results of open and closed cutout.

I have a Flowmaster 40 series 3" in dual 3" out muffler.
