Hanger location/I-pipe routing differences between 4th gen and 3rd gen exhaust

What is the main difference in the I-pipes and hanger locations between 4th gen and 3rd gen exhaust? If you were to place two cat backs side by side, 3rd gen vs 4th gen, would the I-pipes meet in the same location and are the exhaust hangers located in the same place. What is ncessary to mount a 4th gen exhaust in a 3rd gen. I would like to use my current set-up (cat + cat-back) from my RS on my '95Z while my RS waits to be repaired (its gonna take awhile). So I am going to work in reverse here. I have read in my search that there is a diffenence in the way the I-pipe goes over the axle between the two.

I haven't been able to climb under the 3rd gen because it is two hours away. I did however crawl under my fourth gen and noticed a few things.

The cat seems to be set farther back than in the 3rd gen
The I pipe has lots more bends in it than the 3rd gen. It takes a 90 right after the cat and the 3rd gen goes striaight back. Shouldn't be a problem but may be one of those situations where you can use it on one car and but not another. Kinda like 4th gen wheels. You can use them on 4th gens but can't use 3rd gen wheels on 4th gens. Well In a couple of weeks I will being taking this task on. I may just unbolt the two and lay them side by side and go from there.

i tryed to put some of an intermeadiate pipe from my buds 94 or 95 formula lt1 on to my car, it wasnt right the pipe was doing this odd double bend so on my car it would have pointed to the drivers side rear wheels instead of strait back, his cat i think went strait back and mine is pointing the rear divers side wheel i think this isnt a big problem it can be cut a we bit to fit i would guess, right where it needs to go on the cat, but other than that i want to say itll fit, cause aftermarket exhausts tend to fit, guys have used the loud mouth system on there cars here on tgo so im guessing the only modifaction you need to do is the area conecting to the cat.

Well I know with a little fabrication you can easily get a 4th gen system on a thirdgen. I think I am the only one in the world that want sto do the oppostite. I think the large bend on the 4th gen systems (post cat) is there for a reason and I do not think that the 3rd gen system will clear the hump in the floor pan that that bend goes around. I may make a post if I get it to work but it will be a little benifit to anyone since it will be about using a 3rd gen exhaust on a non thirdgen.
