Checking EGR valve???
I was wondering if it's possible to check an EGR valve when its off the motor? Im having idle problems that I have narrowed down to the valve....I took the intake off my 91 L98...and was wondering if there's anyway to check it to see if its good or bad before reinstalling. ALso, to those who know....I know the EGR goes off engine vacuum and and exhaust backpressure....since I dont have my catback on yet(just the header pipes and cats)...woudl that cause the EGR to act up???? Any help into this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys....

unfortunatly, you cant bench test the newer style ones like our cars have.
i just replaced mine... cost $48 from autozone.
i would just replace it... it saved me ALOT in fuel economy

after my full exhaust i went for a road trip on the highway and sure enough after a few days the egr code 32 showed up, i dont mind it since i dont go on road trips much at all so about a minute or two of driving around 70mph i get the ses light coming on.
other than that my car runs ok when the light is on or off.
i dont feel like pulling the tpi stuff to fix it so i am going to leave it be for the time being.

When you guys took of the EGR Valve did you guys take out the fuel rail and runners? How did you guys take if out. I'm stuck on gettin the right bolt off, hard to take off like if they put glue on it.

i have TBI so mines easy as pie.... just the 2 nuts that hold it on and pop it off with a screwdriver...
the heat makes the gasket stick over time... you usually have to pry it a lil.... the bolts are usually tight from the heat cycle over time too....
