im his brother and its loud and nice. install took about 6 hours from start to complete. we were at the shop till about 2am when we pulled it out. SLP should have made this for the 3rd gens but it works just as good even though its for a 4th gen.

there wasnt much custom work needed, the collector flange was the major custom thing we did becuz just in case my brothers fuel pump goes he can unbolt the system and then have easy access to the fuel tank. there was a little bend we had to do to the driver side tail pipe becuz i guess at SLP they didnt give it enuff of a bend or on a 4th gen they site just slightly different. then making a hanger for it took awhile becuz the intermedate pipe was hittin the axel tubes and it took awhile to make something that would work.

I've got an 80 series flow on mine...it sounds ok...but I also have the electronic cut-out on it. It's always open usually...and it's the loudest car around here.....the headers also tweak the sound a ton. I would like to go with a different muffler...but..I really don't know what kind. I've heard the 40 series flows...and they sound great. I'd love to here what the loudmouth sounds like....but..I prolly couldn't install it....

FYI guys, the reason we had trouble with this system was because I have dual cats. To top it off i had the flowmaster system on there that has their special merge colletor on there. That was the part that gave us the most trouble. Fabbing up a hanger also sucked. but it paid off. It is EXTREMELY loud, and I love it. Went out for a cruise yesterday, and ppl were turning around constantly.
Oh and the system was $350 from SLP, and i payed a friend under the table to use his shop. People with a single cat system will have much better luck, especially if you are re-using pipe from a 3 inch system.

dude can u get sound files of that ! i have an 89 305 5spd car and im debating getting a loudmouth, no one has one and it sounds bad ***. id install the dynomax bullet muffler inplace of the SLP resonator i hear that makes it sound nicer and a little quieter. im all for the sound as long as its quieter then an open intermediate pipe like i have now. ill be running a cat with mine too. if u can get a sound file can u get one of it free revving and another of it accelerating at wot. thatd be sweeet

If I'm not mistaken, you CAN buy SLP exhaust for a 3rd gen exhaust.
http://www.customracer.com/camaro_exhaust.html
Right there, but only place I have seen it.
1984-85 5.0L HO 4bbl/85 TPI w/4-bolt flange w/3” intermediate pipe
Thats me. When you load the page, scroll down and you will see 4th gen quad tip SLP. Keep scrolling, because next you will see the next set of SLP. But IDK if it's 4th gen stuff fabbed to a 3rd gen or not. I just noticed this a long time ago :/

The tailpipes completely go around the fuel tank, correct? I have a sumped gas tank so all the mass-produced exhuast kits wont work. My duals sound waaay to rowdy and ground clearance sucks so I'm now thinking of finding a used loudmouth kit and replacing the "resonator" with an actual muffler so it quiets down a little (my cars a cop magnet when its not even running)

Yup, its that loud. Boon's is prolly a lil more raspy due to the lack of a cat. I have to hear it in person to really make that call. Sound clips only do so much

ive had my runnign open int pipe with and with out cat, from my experience the cat made it quieter and so much nicer sounding. i think im gonna use a 6" round dynomax ultra flow and then a dynomax cat. i have a few videos of LS1s with cats and the LM they sound good and arent extremely loud. i think the volume is the same as my friends mustang with no cats and two 40 series.

they have a hanger welded on the pipe and it uses the factory mount...kinda, ull end up takin the bolt that is in the rubber straps out so u can slide the hanger in there.

Congrats on the nice install it looks great. I had mine on for a while now and I like it alot. Its different and loud, two things I was interested in having as I had a somewhat quiet Flowmaster set up on there before. I had a shop do mine for me for around $175.
Pic of the LM.
Tips
Sound clip of me leaning into it up to 3/4 throttle.

is the flange something you Have to make for it to fit?? Will it reach to where the stock dual cats are(the hog ring)??? What other mods are required to make it work? How loud you think it would be on my 383 ci LT1??? lol

Slayer I dont drive the car as much these days but the 2nd day after the exhaust I got a verbal warning for excessive exhaust lol. Ive driven by many other cops though and as long as you arent in it they dont look twice usually. I had mine done at Mufflex in Trenton NJ. The guy Denny from Mufflex knows his **** and did a super clean install at a reasonable price. The looks of the shop can be deceiving but the quality of the work isnt, hands down thats the place to go. As for drone its not that noticable unless you hit the parkway then at certain RPMs itll drown the radio out if its on low. For me its a 2nd car so I dont mind the noise or the attention it gets from cops. For loudness though I think its about perfect, it was exactly what I wanted and it looks good to boot. If I ever get another 3rdgen chances are that one will have a SLP LM as well.
