Car Chemistry has a couple with those approximate dimensions, so do Dynomax. Check out SUMMITRACING.com

They are street legal, but you want to make sure you don't run them right behind the headers without pipes afterwards if you are concerned with noise. It does produce ALOT of power though. The car chemistry ones (cci-31225srk) are a little smaller and thus a little noisier

i wish they had a booth, like they have at car stereo stores where you can check the sound of the speakers, with mufflers so you can push a button and listen to the mufflers that would be awsome... do you have sound clips because i dont want to wast money and end up with mufflers i can stand and end up buying new ones. Does look to much like the mufflers does fart car have i dont want to end up with my car sounding like that

If your fear is to sound like everybody's favorite import car, don't worry, a V-8 can never sound like a 4 cyl. They have a REALLY deep sound to them (best with headers) And with tail pipes running out behind the doors the interior sound level is not too bad at all.

Those posts should anwer all your questions. I didn't realize you were looking at running them all the way to the back (too much back pressure for me) Either way, one of these two mufflers should save you the trouble of making them yourself.

I also don't see how a straight thru muffler at the very end of the exhaust would create too much backpressure

Deadbird, the backpressure of a full exhaust is fine for most engines, especially under tripple digit speeds. With a built small block and a 700r4 i'm about to break the 175 mark (silver state classic) But I suppose you might be right, depending on the end goal. For quarter mile purposes, yes it would be too open for a almost stock small block.

They are basically a glorified version of a bullet muffler with the exception that the core (and outlet) is so large that what little dampening material that is in them does nothing and, the size difference (from inlet to outlet) acts more as a huge, shiney megaphone tip. That's why they make 4cyls sound like total -ss. A proper sized straight through muffler would actually make the lesser engined cars quiter and deeper toned. Kind of the same way a dynomax muffler sounds pretty descent on a v6 car. That's just my take on it though...
