series 40 vs series 80 flowmasters

This guy at the muffler shop told me series 80 goes on suvs, i was like so, he says that they are not that loud and have like a low hum and that's it. He told me to get the 40. Now i was wondering what sounds better the 40 or the 80?

40 series = single outlet.

80 series = Dual outlet.

80 series are not just made for trucks. The 80 series comes on the american thunder catback for 3rd and 4th gens. It is pretty damn loud, I am happy with it.

80 SERIES
Performance Street

The 80 Seriesú performance street muffler is specially designed for applications where the muffler must be mounted transversely (crossflow) behind the rear axle, either to match an OE system or for increased ground clearance. The 80 Seriesú is a true crossflow with single or dual inlet/dual outlet configurations and produces an aggressive muscle car sound.

Application Recommendations
Crossflow Applications
1982-2001 Camaro and Firebirds (V-8 Applications Only)
Buick Grand Nationals and T-Types
Street Rods and Whenever Ground Clearance is an Issue

Hey man, not trying to be a jerk but I am pretty positive there are no dual outlet 40 series.

There are dual outlet 40 series, but both outlets are on the same side so it is nothing like a crossflow muffler.

I've got the 80 series on my GTA and its loud. Not stupid loud, but loud enough to catch the local boys in blue attention. Been pulled over twice now for a stated, "excessive reving" and "disturbing the peace." Both times I was heading to work down my HOME street at 25mph, the posted speed limit.

If you can't tell, the cops in my neighboorhood don't like muscle that much. Then again, at least they don't like **** either.

You can find some sound clips on the Flowmaster page below.
http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/we...PerfMuff9.html

And I have a clip of the exhaust note on my own car if I can find it.

You can put a dummy tip on a 40s series, it would be about the same setup that Borla uses. I had it on my 91 Z, very very very nice sound
