Borla 3rd gen cat-back system .....whats with the by-pass/restrictor plates.
Why does the Borla cat-back for 3rd gen allow exhaust flow from exhaust pipe into muffler to flow into r/s tail-pipe? Their web site is no help. Does this magically reduce back-pressure or create scavenging effect?. This would make r/s tailpipe louder, and probably sound crappy--no tuning or muffeling of sound into that tailpipe, but rather straight off exhaust pipe. If this is so great, why not drill holes and run tube from exhaust pipe to r/s tailpipe on any 3rd gen exhaust? Any thoughts would be appreciated, I'm quite curious.

Its to be LOUD. If you want more air to go through the muffler, you just put more restrictive plates on the passanger side.

There are three plates. One with a small hole, one with a large hole, and one with no hole. You can create any sort of custom plate you want, its just a sheet metal triangle. It sounds great with the exhaust open, and you can bypass the muffler in 15 minutes. Right now Im running with it closed and it sounds great, but Im going to put a different plate in next week.
I guess there may be minimal performance gains from it, sort of like a cut-out.
