Flowmaster V.S. Bullets
I was just wondering what the sound difference is between a 40 series Flowmaster and a Dynomax Bullet. I also would like to know which one gives the most power also. Thanx.

I just bought 2 of the Bullet mufflers. They won't be installed for about 2-3 weeks. I need to get my engine buttoned up first. If you want to wait that long!!

I didn't reply because I've been wondering the same thing about the flowmaster 40's and bullets, and since you already asked the question. Well, I've got a pretty stock camaro with a better flowing stock air cleaner and flowmaster 80 series. The sound is a nice rumble at idle and screams at WOT, but I'd like something a little louder.
On another camaro that I owned, the cat got clogged and I had to cut it out in order to drive the car to the muffler shop(to get a new cat). Wow! the sound through open pipe was awesome(I know some people out there don't like the sound). It sounded like a pure race car. At times, too loud to hold a conversation though.
I'd like to step up to flow 40's since I like the sound of my 80 and the 40's should sound even healthier. But I kind of miss the sound of that open pipe and think that the closest that I can get to it is with the bullets. Plus the bullets are more affordable. They probably won't last as long as the flowmasters(of course I could be wrong). What concerns me though is if the bullets are too loud. I checked with the local authorities and in my area you'll get a ticket for having an exhaust that is too loud. What's considered too loud is at the discretion of the officer. Which means no standard on how loud is too loud. It's all up to the officer. So I'm unsure about putting the bullets on(or any exhaust that might be considered too loud).
There are other brands that I've thought about using, but for right now my current muffler is fine. I'll probably stick with it until after I do some other mods such as headers, cam, etc. So I am also seeing what others have to say and keeping my muffler options open.

My friend has a pair of bullets on his 69' SS and it sounds beatiful. But then again he has 700 horsepower! He told me that the Bullets had nothing to them because they are for all out racing. I asked him why he didn't put 40 series Flowmasters on and he told me that he didn't like the sound.
When he started up his car later that night when he was getting ready to leave. Me and my friends were standing about 20 feet away from the side of the car while he was revving it a little bit and we couldn't even hear ourselves think! When he was almost ready to pull out a cop went by and the cop waved! Figure that one out.
