Spare Headman Header Parts?

I installed my headers about 2 years ago and never paid much attention to the parts that came in the box until today. When I installed my shorty headers and y-pipe, the collector flanges to the y-pipe didn't seem to fit the headers perfectly. I actually bent them trying to make them fit snug and used two sets of collector gaskets. Theyt still leak.

In the package the headers came with spare collectors and flanges. Should I have used those instead? They are a bit smaller. I didn't use them because I thought everything was ready to go from the factory. The y-pipe was already fitted with a flange and so were the headers. I don't know what the extras were for. They looked like they would need to be welded as well.

-----ALSO----

What is the best/easiest bolt to use to bolt headers up. The bolts that came with the kit are $hitty to say the least! Some of the bolts are impossible to turn beacause of the small clearnce between the bolt and tube. What about alen head bolts? Any good? Stage 8 lockers?

Help?

Car: 1989 Firebird Formula
Engine: Internal Combustion
Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
Those extra collectors and flanges were supplied to enable the use of the stock y-pipe.
I used Allen head bolts for mine; the Stage 8 pieces are designed to prevent the bolts from loosening, which is a good idea unless you don't mind checking them every few weeks.
