What freakin flowmaster Muffler do i have. Im Clueless.

I was told the muffler was an 80 series than an 70 series etc. The weird thing is i bought the catback from this place called S-K speed and on the box it says FLOWMASTER AMERICAN THUNDER SYSTEM FOR 5.0 OR 5.7 TPI CAMARO/FIREBIRD. Its a single 3 inch pipe with a dual exaust stainless steel tips. Im sure its really a Delta Force II system. If u possible know what muffler please answer this question. With the exaust system that i have including catco 3 inch converter and ported edelbrock headers do u think the exaust should have a nice rumble or not.(havent started motor, installing it)and does it take for a muffler to hear its full potential or is that bull. help

I'm not sure, because the new AT exhaust system for Third Gens comes with a modified 50 Series, but I don't know what the other 1s came with. I'm almost sure its either a 40 Series dual outlet or an 80 Series.

Check to see if the box has a model number. The following model numbers are 80 series American Thunder: 17233,17234, and 17228. I have model number 17234 and it sounds awsome on my 92 Camaro. Likewise model numbers were obtained from my Flowmaster 2000 Catalog

If you inspect the muffler carefully, you will find a product number stamped on the muffler. Then you can cross reference this number with a performance parts catalog, like Jegs or Summit.
I got a free used Flowmaster muffler given to me. I found the product number stamped on the end of the muffler by the inlet or outlet opening. It was made up of a bunch of small dots that made up each individual number. Then I cross referenced the number with the patrts numbers in a Summit Catalog number. Also, I noticed that the part numbers have the series type of muffler as part of the number, as well as the inlet/outlet opening diameters being part of the part number as well. If you study the part numbers in a catalog closely enough and cross reference the number to the series type of muffler it is, you can decifer the numbering system and which numbers indicatre the series muffler type.
I hope you have a Summit, Jegs or good parts catalog and that this info helps you figure out what you have.

Should sound real good. Flowmasters especially sound good with cars with a little bit higher compression (like with your flat tops), and something that will rev up to about 5500-6500. I don't know if yours will rev that high, since you really didn't say what cam you had, but even a stock small block should be able to rev up to about 5500.

Another thing that makes them sound good is the 5 speed. The sound of a car rowing up through the gears is sweet, and you don't even have to be on it that hard to make it sound good. Ahhh... Manual transmissions kick *** !!

If it is the crossflow style where the tail pipes exit in the stock position, it's an 80 series. I bought mine about the same time you did, and the only one available in the crossflow style at that time was the 80 series.
