Easiest way to install headers? FAQ?
any tips from expert installers around here? thanks. I got the smog legal Hooker 1-5/8 to install. The instructions scared me with talk of cutting the battery mount and firewall and raising the engine out 2.5".
After reading that I wished I got my uncles Plymouth Duster. there is so much room in there you could put a Hemi in! He only has a totaled 318 stiing in there waiting for a helping hand.

If you have a single-cat TPI car, you won't need to do either of those. I installed the Hooker Super Comp shorty headers by myself and didn't need to do anything extraordinary besides having the mouth of my stock cat opened up a little at a local exhaust shop. My new Random Tech cat slid right onto the end of the Y-pipe w/out having to do anything to it. For details of my header swap, go to:

i put in my old edelbrock headers and my new (WAY better) SLp headers from teh top of the engine, with the engine is it's "normal" location, i.e., not unbolted and lifted.
one thing that i had to do with both was to take off the valve covers. the little lip that they have that hangs over the head makes it a bitch to get them in. just make sure that you disconnect your battery, because the driver side cover kept on hitting the positive battery stud on the alternator, and i had more then enough spark shows than i care for.
good luck getting them in, they will probly be a big pain in the a$$, but nothing impossible. more of a hassle than anything else.
