exhaust pipe questions??
I have Slp 13/4 headers waiting to be put in along with a 3" Catco cat. I plan on insatlling them next week. I have some questions though since I dont know crap about what exhaust shops can and cant do.
1) can they expand a 3" pipe a little so it will slip over another 3" pipe?
2)Can they do mandrel bends or whatever they are called? If not what are my options for bending a pipe about 20-35 degrees without affecting flow?
3) I have a 3" catco cat, can they put flanges on my it instead of welding it so that I can take it off easily in the future? And would a muffler shop carry flanges?
4)for the hell of it, what am i looking at in costs?

1)yes
2)no
option, order your bends from Torque-Tech and specify them to be expanded to slip-fit 3" pipe.
3)why bother with flanges? Just slip fit pipe to each side of it and use clamps.
If you get your own flanges you might find a guy with a MIG to put them on for you.
4) whatever the bends, flanges, and clamps cost you.

yes it is that bad.
a machine bend will take a 3" pipe down to 2.5" making the rest of your 3" system rather useless.
since machine bends restrict the flow the bigger pipe after the bend acts as an expansion chamber and will quiet the exhaust note some.
measure the angle. If you are within 5 degrees then you should be able to make it work. There is some play in each of the slip joints, plus some play in the cat-back pipe.

What I am probably going to do is what someone just suggested to me, Get 2 machine bent pipes made and keep one on the car for now and sent the other off to be mandrel bent. This way it will be exact fit.
