none Stock motor. what headers to use?
I just blew the stock 3.1L in my 91 Firebird. i'm putting a Chevy 305 out of a 86 Chevy Monte Carlo in my car. its been bored .030 over. i want to run 3" exhust but i want tuned headers with 3" collectors running to a y-pipe. what headers should i get? i want a kit that comes witht he headers and the Y-pipe. i was looking at the Headman shorty style with y-pipe on Jegs but i don't want the a.i.r caps on it. what do you think i Should get?

I second the hooker 2055s with a hooker catback...either a high flow cat or my favorite; no cat at all.
Either the hooker 2055s or the edelbrock TES's with the 3'' y pipe will work fine. Both come with AIR tho which sucks.

You can get the headers w/o AIR on them. I have Hooker comps and I would reccomend them, the only thing is they don't come with a y-pipe (it doesn't matter since I'm running duals), you will have to get one custom made. The Supercomps (2055's) are great headers too and come w/ a y-pipe. Hedman also makes some good headers (and they're cheap). SLP makes good ones too (they're stainless) but I've heard some people have fit problems. However, I wouldn't reccomend the Edelbrock TES. Pn for the hooker supercomps @ summit is: hok-2055 I think.

i just got off the phone with a guy from Jegs. i was looking at the Hooker Super Comp Shortie Headers Part# 520-2055. they come with the high flow y-pipe but they are for 86-90 Camaro's (but we all know they will fit on the firebird) but the guy said that they are for the TPI setup only. so with that being said what kind of problems would i have installing them? again i have a 1991 Firebird that had a stock 3.1L V-6 and is getting a Chevy 305 out of a 86 Monte Carlo put in to it. it will have a Holley 650CFM 4bbl. if you guys need to know what kinda of intake i will be useinf if i'm not useing the TPI setup...... so what should i do now?

They will fit fine on any thirdgen with a SBC. I don't know why they say they're only for TPI. Maybe becuase they're the 1 3/4" and the TPI's were the "hot" engine to get.

I thought the Super Comps were 1 5/8 either way, I think they said only for TPI, due to the cat size.

Sorry, I was thinking of the longtubes (momentary memory lapse). Those are 1 3/4", the shorties are 1 5/8", and yes you are right, I just looked at it on Summit's site and it is due to cat size (3").
