Do cutouts replace need for aftermarket catback exhaust?
Im just wondering about something. Do you still need to buy aftermarket catback system with cutouts? I was thinking I could just keep a stock exhaust, connect the driver-seat controlled mr gasket cutout, have stock exhaust cruising around and smog check...when i want to get loud or get on it, open it up...run open headers. I live in cali so I know its not legal to ride around with open headers, But can they bust you if the cutout is closed? What are the advantages/disadvantages compared to getting a full catback system? Just wondering considering i could get the cutout for like 50 bucks as opposed to over 500 for borla.

Cutouts are obnoxiously loud. Stock catbacks are much too quiet. A performance Catback exhaust is a nice compromise.

But as far as performance, You could just get a cutout, which eliminates the need for a high flowing exhaust because its dumped right after the headers correct?
