Crackling muffler???

My main goal at the moment is to get my exhaust to sound right. I only want to buy a muffler. No money for a cat-back.(poor college student) Anyway, I really want it to crackle. You know, when you rev the engine it goes up then comes back down with that... Crack, crack, crack! I would like it pretty loud too, but nothing illegal. Any suggestions on who makes suck a muffler?

Looks good, but doesn't look loud enough. Although all the other tests look good. Anyone else? Anything with the same sound only louder? I appreciate the response Kev.

No muffler. Is that cheap enough? Actually is not as loud as you would think. Your cat still intact will act much like a muffler itself. Especially if it's an older cat. Has a great sound IMO.

Flowmaster 40 series 2-chamber muffler. Not cheap but WELL worth the money for the construction and the sound... real nice! Ask around. If you need real cheap, glaspacks will give you that crackle and are wicked cheap but some think they are tacky sounding... Guess it depends on the kind of guy you are. If i were still in college, I'd do glasspacks in a second...

What about a flowmaster 80's series? I've heard that they're not loud. Is that true? Hmmmm.... No muffler? Have to think about that one!

Hmmmmmmm...........

Lets see: About $50 for the cheapest flowmaster or about $20 for a good glasspack.

And for aggresive crackle, the answers obvious:

GLASSPACKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are glasspacks legal? I don't want to go with something illegal.

Too bad they flow like absolute a$$ and sound like a dump truck on crack when the packing wears out.

NO MUFFLER!!!

If you want a great sounding, loud exhaust that cracks when it revs back down... no muffler is for you!!!

Go to a Meineke or something and tell them to take your muffler off and run a U pipe to the back of the car so it still comes out in dual tips. That way it still looks good, the sound will be directed toward the back of the car still, which promotes a good, loud sound, and as far as a police officer can tell, you still have a muffler.

That is what I have and I love it.
