Tighten Exhaust Man Bolts Cold or Hot ??

On my daily beater V8 I want to see if loose exhaust man bolts are causing the loud tick I am hearing lately.

Does it matter whether I do it cold or hot ? How much torque should I apply? I don't want to snap a bolt off. The car is 15 years old.

Thanks

Cold is best. The bolt material won't be as strong when hot, and you wouldn't really know the temperature they're at so couldn't say how much to lower the torque.

Do it cold and use the book value for torque.
