Flowmaster restriction?

I Bought a 3 inch flowmaster kit for my car when it still had the 305 in it. Its a 3 inck setup with a 2.5 inch exit, I'm confused why they didn't just make the whole thing 3 inch. Now that I had edelbrock TES, and a 3inch cat I'm wondering if this 2.5 inch exhaust is causing a noticeable restriction. About the only thing this tailpipe is good for is the sleeper look, but the lopey idle and hoodscoop kind of offset it now. I figure it'll cost me about a hundred dollars to get a 3 inch flowmaster muffler and tailpipe and I want to know if you guys think it'll be worth it

I say get away from flowmaster, i've heard better reports of other cat-back systems liked dynomax and hooker aero chamer mufflers. I myself felt a reduction in HP when i installed my flowmaster cat-back. Maybe someone else would like to elaborate on this.

Vortecfcar, I am moving this to the exhaust forum to see if you can get more feedback there.

Get the hell rid of the flowmaster. It's definitly a restriction to your 350. What size pipe do you have goin from your cat to muffler? I'd get a full 3" system.

With your mods you definetly need a 3" exhaust. You might be robbing yourself of some horsepower with the 2.5". I personally thought Edelbrock's Catback along with the headers on my 88 RS sounded nice. I think I have a wav file on my computer off a 90' RS 305 that had the exhaust gutted and everything with Edelbrock. Just make sure you get the Z28/T/A 3" Exhaust, it says it will only fit for those models but there fibbing. I did it on mine, the only diff is one is 2.5" and the other 3.0"

thanks for the help, I think I'm gonna dump the 2.5 inch muffler and get a warlock 3 inch, other than my tail pipe, the whole thing is three inch.
