Flowtech Purple Hornies/ Red Hots

My friend suggested that I get rid of my 40 series flowmaster muffler for a Purple Hornies/ Red Hots when I get my Hooker Competition Headers. Which of the 2 Header Mufflers is louder/better. What will sound better, the header mufflers or the 40 series? Thanks

Yes purple hornies are very loud, my friend had them on his 73 charger with a 318 and they were as loud as straight pipes. Now i have one on my bird(V6) it's not as loud as his 318 but it gets me noticed. It flows alot better then the flowbastered i had, oh by the way it's for sale, the flowmaster that is.....

This is probably a dumb question, but, can the purple hornies be mounted directly to longtube headers (as far as clearing the frame and stuff) on third gen f-bodies?

What about Hooker Shorty Headers? Will they directly bolt to them?

They will bolt to the shorty headers, but they will probably be straight up and down as if you stood them on end.I dont believe this will work. The long tube headers come all of the way out of the bottom of the car, putting the hornies in a lengthwise position. I just didnt know if they would clear the transmission crossmember and stuff without running a piece of pipe off of each header to maybe bring them back some.I had a 1978 Firebird with l.t. headers and just had two little turbo mufflers bolted right to them,it sounded great! And loud!

Raising the dead but... I had a 73 "bird for a while with a mild 350, it had Flowtech headers and purple hornies directly to the headers. WHAT A BEAST! Set off car alarms and made the ricers cream in their drawer's lol . It got old after a while, ya could never hear anything but the engine, but man it was great fun!

ROTFLMFAO. And how would you know dude? Yet another person discussing something they don't know about and perpetuating incorrect information.

Do a search on Purple Hornies. Or do a search on Purple Hornies and my username. I've already answered the question about purple hornies and bolting them up to hooker long tubes. It won't work.

He's right, wont work. I tried to put a 12" collector extensions on my hookers. It may be possible, on the drivers side but the subframe is in the way on the passenger side.

sry to get on your wrong side man but they do bolt straight up to long tube headers and there shouldnt be a problem with clearance unless you have your car lowered. as for hooker headers im not sure if they will bolt to them i dont see why they would be different that any other long tube header.

I finally have my L.T. headers installed, and no kind of muffler will clear the tranny cross member. You have to get the hedman S extentions to go under it.

They will bolt to the header, but only if you dont plan on putting your headers in your car. They will not clear the frame. This has nothing to do with a car being lowered. Did you not read the previous posts.

Well, honestly the guy does need to shorten his signature. I mean, he could say that he has a built 2.8 or whatever it is. Oh, and he has listed in his sig that he has a balanced steel driveshaft or that he has stock iron manifolds. What does that matter. So does everyone else. I could do the same thing and have a huge signature, except with better parts listed. I think that the point was that he is arguing about something when he doesnt have it and hasnt tried it as we have.

Oh, and why is Traxion a moderator? Maybe because he knows what he is doing. He has put together an awsome car and knows a lot about prom burning.

I understand that he has an abnormally long signature, I just failed to see what it had to do with the argument. "... and this coming from a guy who has a REDICULOUSLY long signature..." etc. Like it made his point or something, that's all.

I'm not saying Traxion isn't qualified in knowledge to be a moderator, I'm just saying mods are supposed to help keep the peace but he seems to be intimidating and insulting V6camaroman without reason.

But, I digress, I'm not trying to start a fight.

Actually, it did make my point ... especially when you read between the lines - lol If you don't read between the lines then it still made my point - REDICULOUSLY long signature about a 2.8. I don't know - maybe he actually did manage to find a set of long tube headers for that 2.8 and bolt them up.

... he seems to be intimidating and insulting V6camaroman without reason.
Without reason?!?! Ok, I digress. I don't want to start a fight either

I dont think that they are bs, but it is kind of anoying trying to read posts when someones signature is that long. You should try to shorten it a bit.

Are you talking to me? I didnt write the poem. I did however agree that it might be a good idea to shorten the sig and just have the highlights of what you have done.
