Bad Lifter
I was wondering if anyone has just replaced 1 bad lifter on there engine. I replaced my engine with a 383 Stoker the motor is a brand new reman. The number six intake lifter is bad.
I don't believe that i ruined the cam lobe. But If i need to replace the cam does anyone have any suggestions on a good cam and lifter set up. The motor does have any drive time and it idled for about an hour all together.

Re: Bad Lifter
The lifter is totally ****ed. I mean bad almost chewed down to the inner mechanisms, but I looked in the hole the cam lobe doesn't seem to have any scoring at all. I ran my fingernail across it and its doesn't even get caught up. Also I've pulled the other lifters and there like brand new. The lobes seem to be the same as the bad one. Is there anyway I can tell if I flattened the cam lobe. I appreciate the help.

The cam is trashed, comp cams has coating It's a coating that they've been using in the Aerospace field since like the fifties but it just now recently became affordable. It's a $20 upgrade over the regular lifters they give you with a cam.
a lot of assembly lube, light springs and high zinc additives help break in.
